It's not like it's "the good Ron's" car... so why worry.

57hemicuda 01-20-2014 02:22 PM

We should have loaded my gray primered 68 to see if the Ron would have noticed the difference.

Give it up -- you can't read....

Ron met the boys... they're hauling his Camaro back on "the rig".... He's safely and smugly back in Cali. He may look dumb.. LOL... but he outsmarted the other two into doing his dirty work. Dave is so dumb he bought a truck just to do the job!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Okay -- that's all mean, but you gotta know I love these guys!

Che70velle 01-20-2014 08:15 PM

Strange...I find this thread to be WAY more entertaining than anything on tv. Who needs a Powertour, when you have this? You guys are rock stars!!!

I must be a dummie, cause I'd rather be drunk and on the road with my boys. As usual, life got in the way. The text wave puts me right there at times, lol.

Thanks for the props Greg and JDog.

OMG Ron --- if these poor people knew about the Text train... My wife thinks I've turned into a teenage girl... and the phone buzzes right off the counter so I had to turn vibrate off. The only peace I've had for three weeks is when I went snow shoeing today at Galena Pass and there's no service up there!

LOL

So much fun!!! I'm with you -- I'd give anything to be right there with 'em.

fleet 01-20-2014 09:04 PM

Yakking/texting about everyones yada yada yada certainly helps make the miles seemingly go by faster.

They'll get back to Cali...someday. ;)

I'm going to Cali in the morning.... I know where they live... I may have to hunt them down and duct tape their phone keypads.

TheJDMan 01-20-2014 09:51 PM

Well damn, I just found this thread too late. You guys were in DC which means you were on I95. I am about 10 minutes from I95 exit 126 about half way between DC and Richmond. I love those old haulers brings back memories.

waynieZ 01-20-2014 09:55 PM

Glad you guys are heading south calling for 6-12 inches of snow up here. Going to be cold down there too.

DaleTx 01-20-2014 10:37 PM

Sounds like an awesome road trip... 1,100 miles down, Kudos!!

57hemicuda 01-21-2014 03:13 AM

Text train!!!!! Woke up this morning and I missed 182 texts. Rob told me it was insane, I had no idea.LOL

fleet 01-21-2014 03:45 AM

Sounds like being in the shotgun texter seat is more work than driving that rig.

:D

mdprovee 01-21-2014 11:20 AM

It is pretty funny, we are all laughing at them for doing it, but we all want to be there with them.

I don't, reading the Cliffs notes version is all I need.

But I am looking forward to the pricey Smithsonian souvenirs they're gonna bring back for us loyal subscribers.

:thankyou:

:catfight:

Then the artist formerly known as 'Bad Ron' will be 'Mad Ron'...

:D

57hemicuda 01-21-2014 12:38 PM

Trunk was full of car parts, the inside the car full of luggage. Was cracking me up, the luggage was wrapped in garbage bags to keep it dry. Would have loved to see the face of the Hotel personnel when these two guys walked in carrying garbage bags.

fleet 01-21-2014 12:49 PM

Rumor has it Vegas is giving odds that security footage of Flash and/or Rob will go viral on youtube for some indiscretion...

:thankyou:

Flash68 01-22-2014 12:13 AM

this trip sucks

Dangit it's hard to find time to post regularly with so much action and hospitality..... Payton and Ron are some of the best people to ever let some idiots from California come stay with them....

Left Ron S's house Sunday night and made the 2 hour-ish drive to DC. :flag2:

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...psdf1d02d8.jpg

This guy gave us (and only us) the "detour" away from the Capitol building when we get within 3 blocks... I mean, what could be suspicious about a rusty old truck with a carcass of an old car on the back? :lostmarbles:

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...psf767f4a8.jpg

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...psadf0ddc0.jpg

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...psc3b3b83a.jpg

"No Parking Any Time"? Right.

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps2fef1385.jpg

Front row parking (free) at our Art Deco hotel in downtown DC... another score.

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps66ec41ff.jpg

Flash68 01-22-2014 12:15 AM

this still sucks

Payton took us to one of his local Nascar "connections" (a fast talking guy from Jersey, ironically ) and we started digging and ended up with a nice little pile... this is some of it

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps57092f25.jpg

Had to stop by Roush Yates around the corner too

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps7539f045.jpg

Another score with some authentic Carolina BBQ (great call Payton). Bryan, if you are reading this.... well, just don't. :twak:

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps17cc2e89.jpg

After NASCAR shopping and late lunch we hit the go kart track down the street and with more uncanny timing we had the track to ourselves. We ran 2 races so whomever won race #1 would have to back it up and that proved fitting. I won the first race and Rob got me on the 2nd one. Before he comes on here to point out his Ford greatness and shifter kart racing past I'll say he did get fast lap of the day 44.4 to 44.8 and Payton right behind us.

In a related story.... a Chevy guy with 2 Fords and a Ford guy with 2 Chevies decided what more fitting of a place to call a truce than the U.S. Institute of Peace. I am sure it is a wonderful use of American tax dollars. :bang:

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps8c985f23.jpg

And finally our latest foreign exchange host family showed that true southern hospitality and provided us some tasty night cap beverages after a hard day of shopping and a delicious home cooked shrimp soup (Thanks Cheryl).
