so last weekend I worked my butt off to get the new IRS mounted into the chassis so I can make this thing a roller for the Wings Over Camarillo air show coming up this week on the 20th and 21st. I cut off the old rear of the frame and remade it to accept the 2015 Ford Mustang IRS. here are the pictures
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...806_075734.jpg http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...806_075723.jpg http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...806_125125.jpg http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...806_150536.jpg http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...806_150607.jpg |
I bent this first tube all out of one piece.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...806_214954.jpg http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...806_215007.jpg the second tube wouldn't fit into the bender properly so I had to do a few joints http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...807_075433.jpg http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...807_091341.jpg http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...807_091345.jpg http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...807_162121.jpg |
I then had to disassemble the rear of the buck so I could rework and cut out some room for the newly remodeled rear of the chassis.

Incredible! Hope I get to see this in person someday.
Are you keeping the factory IRS cradle or re-making one of your own? Jeff- |
here is something that everyone including myself has been waiting for!
Like I mentioned in a previous post, I am getting the car ready to go to its first public showing at the Wings Over Camarillo air show here next weekend August 20th-21st. So with that, a lot of things are coming together for the car all at once, and it feels great. Yesterday with some help from my Ol' Man I was able to get the car looking a lot more like a car! while I worked on reassembling the buck he was busy cutting initial shapes for the nose of the car. once those were complete him and I tag teamed the nose to get it just about finished. enjoy!

Thanks!! I am just goin to clean up the factory cradle. when the car is done you wont even be able to see it so there isnt much point in reinventing the wheel. if I had unlimited hours maybe, but this is all nights and weekends. |
Fantastic work you've really brought out the lines of the Mitchell with your build!

So whats the significance of the 4/18/17 date? That windshield line is just the right amount of angry! |

well I am back again with another big update for you all. it has been an incredibly busy last couple of weeks and I have a good amount of progress to show for it.
Since I last updated you a few weeks ago I got the front suspension of the car to a point that the car could be rolled around once I bolted on the new brakes and wheels. so here are the update shots of that happening. http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...815_071007.jpg http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...815_071025.jpg http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...815_071029.jpg http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...816_101618.jpg http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...816_101624.jpg http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...816_171611.jpg |

I picked up the freshly finished one-off wheels from Chris Coddington last thursday night! Then off to the tire shop for mounting the next morning.
