Nice looking setup Ken, well made too.

bmiller 02-20-2019 09:13 AM

I am running a concept one drive on an lsa in a 63 nova and to say things are tight would be an understatement, how much clearance did the Wegner gain you?

kwhizz 02-20-2019 09:23 PM

About 3/4" on the Blower Drive belt and a couple inches on the Accessory drive belt.....But... The Wegner unit is much wider

kwhizz 02-23-2019 12:47 PM

And on we go.....Had to remove the Supercharger Snout to change the drive pulley as the Wegner pulley is moved back (about 3/4") to the stock position.... Got that done..... Then while the snout was off I looked inside the Supercharger and noticed that the engine ordered a couple of years after GM changed the design of the Drive isolator from a Spring one to a solid one... It ended up having a spring one in it...…… Ordered a Lingenfelter solid coupler.....should be here today so I can finish getting the Supercharger put back together and finish the install...…… Got the accessory drive side of the unit finished also...….. Getting close

It looks good Ken. Is that where the inter cooler pump is staying? On the right.

Yes..... In that general Area…..

kwhizz 02-25-2019 06:11 AM

Ordered the Lingenfelter coupler Friday morning as it was in stock ...…. Ordered Next Day Air.... LOL...….So I could get everything finished on the engine Saturday...… Coupler $48.00 ……… Next Day Air $64.00...…… Waited..... Waited..... Never showed up...….. Looked at my email from them and they said they would notify me when it was shipped...… They never shipped it...… WTF !!!! Ordered it elsewhere and told them to cancel and refund the money...…. Let's see how this plays out...….. All I want is to be a consumer and get what I pay for..... I guess that's asking too much !!!!!

Ken

1965_SS 02-25-2019 09:47 AM

Looks great!

I can't stand it when I pay for fast shipping and it doesn't show up!!! Drives me crazy. You know your expecting the part, maybe take vacation from work just to do something..................and then nothing.:hairpullout:

waynieZ 02-25-2019 11:10 AM

Like they don't know it needs to be there by you paying for overnight. It just doesn't make sense. I hope this works out for you this time.

kwhizz 02-27-2019 05:17 AM

Getting closer...…...There is an engine in there somewhere...… LOL

No Thanks....... I actually want to drive it on the Road Tour this year.....

kwhizz 03-08-2019 10:57 AM

Just about finished with the install..... Great Unit very well engineered.... But with the components in different positions I had to move things around to complete the install..... Had to reposition and remake a mount for the intercooler pump....... reposition the power steering reservoir...... and make new radiator hoses (my most favorite thing to do.... LOL).....Then I have to make a new air inlet tube and reposition the GM fuse panel........ But....When it is all said and done I now have plenty of clearance to the front of the engine..... It was worth it all just in the comfort of knowing I can get at the front in case something happens while on the road......

New intercooler pump mount

Radiator going back in

With the Concept1 setup in the fan motor was hitting the Tensioner......Lot's of room now.....

Getting close and looking good!

kwhizz 03-12-2019 02:00 PM

Compared to the old set-up...… There is all the room in the world to access the front of the engine now...…. Great job Wegner !!!!!

kwhizz 03-12-2019 02:11 PM

This picture isn't up to date, but the upper and lower hose's are in.....Filled with coolant.…now I have to wait for a 45 Degree elbow to show up so I can finish the new Air Inlet Tube in it's new position...… Then off to Frame-up to get the new A/C hose's made...…. Then we just need to get the front seat back from Tracey Weaver and we are ready for the Road Tour...…

kwhizz 03-17-2019 05:50 AM

Waiting for a 45 degree rubber elbow to show up so I can finish the Air inlet tube...…. Then it's finished and ready for Donnie at Frame-up to finish up the new A/C lines and recharge the system...….. Then I just need the seat back from the Recovery Room and we are ready for the season...

Finished...….. I know this thread is nothing compared to the other threads that are posted here...… But.... I don't have any real projects going on.... Well ….LOL..... Bottom line I can now drive the car and not worry as much about access to the front of the Engine...….

This thread is useless without pics!!! WTF

kwhizz 05-23-2019 07:49 PM

Got the seat back from the Recovery Room (Tracey Weaver) and he did a awsum job..... He removed all the stock seat springs and rebuilt the cushions by installing a aluminum pan in the seat frame and built the cushions out of layered foam...… A little stiff but better than it was....

What’s an old man like you doing with 600 hp....... 😂

Looks great Ken..... glad it’s finished. Seat looks good - stiffness should ease up with milage.... and still look good.

Mikes guy did the top layer of foam in the ‘40 real soft - I love it - but it will show “wear” sooner as the leather stretch’s and groans under the weight of my BFA.... The Sid Shavers upholstered seat in the ‘33 was “stiff” but it had a lot of contour so was comfortable.

Ken,

I gather that last drive was slipping pretty bad, given the lack of belt wrap on the supersharger pulley...

I don't think anyone is going on the west, cept little ole lonely me LOL

Looking forward to seeing it none-the less

kwhizz 07-26-2019 05:52 PM

We are getting close …….. LOL..... A synopsis of getting to this point in the story...… After the fiasco with the Glide Engineering seat backs being too wide to fit in the car...…. I called and explained what happened, they sent me out new seat back frames a month later..... at this point I had had it with that seat so it just sat in a corner of the garage covered up.... When the box with the new seat back frames arrived I just put it on the seat as I had already sent the original seat to Tracey Weaver for mod's...….. Tracey did an awsum job on the seat and after getting it back and installing it ……. It looked fantastic...… The only problem was it was a little too firm for the wife...…. so..... since the car is going on the Good-Guys Road Tour this year she (well... you know the rest of the Story)…….. so.... I dug out the Glide fiasco and took it to Dave who re-upholstered it prior to us finding out it didn't fit..... Dropped the seat off along with the box with the new frames...….LOL...… A week later Dave calls and said they sent the wrong frames...…. Glide sent frames for a tall back seat (mine was the shorter style) and they also sent frames for a stock seat without the arm rest...….. a little tall and wide...….. What else could they possibly screw up...… I was ready to throw in the towel again at this point...… Dave said don't worry about it and he would take care of it...…. He cut the tapered sections from the new frames and welded everything as it needed to be...… Finished the seat and installed it …….. Now she is Happy...… Dave did a great job and made a very comfortable seat out of a pile of Crap !!!!!!
