Steve |
Very Nice!

So we are getting there ... hope to have the soft top installed today Took some work but we are very happy with the door alignment https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1867/...97744f65_h.jpgIMG_9468 by Steve Heck, on Flickr Heated Seats and stereo equipment installed on seat frame https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1900/...6fd78326_h.jpgIMG_9432 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1877/...00ef2d4f_h.jpgIMG_9451 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1843/...72ad7968_h.jpgIMG_9455 by Steve Heck, on Flickr |
Steve it’s early and the first thread I open is yours as I can’t wait to see updated pictures.
Good news there was pictures and to see I am blown away yet again. Love this build and I am so happy you shared it here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Steve, if I'm not mistaken I thought you had some buttery soft killer seats going in this build although the Corbeau's don't look too bad either.
Let me guess.....you're saving those for another F body build? Simon |
Thank you
Marty ... BIG thank you,... Im just super happy that there is a site (Lateral G) with guys like you that appreciate this type of build and the amount of work that goes into something like this. Sure is nice when it all comes together like you imagined
And oh yes Simon ... I do have those wicked seats that are going into the next FJ build ... not an F body build LOL https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1864/...d0c32081_h.jpgIMG_9488 by Steve Heck, on Flickr |
That'll look so bad ass once you paint it!!
LOL I love this thing and what you've done with it! |
Sweet ! I hope my car interior comes out this good.
|
So very much love how this turned out!! Well done...
What is the opening between driver's door and front fender and will it stay open or is there going to be a cover for it? |
Paint
Gee thanks Greg !! .... :catfight:
Ya right Wayne, I have no doubt that yours will be awesome ! Lance those are the kick panel vents (original feet 'air conditioning') and yes I'm going to bond the panels back on, still LOTS of little stuff to do to wrap this thing up So like ALL seriously modded vehicles we've run in a significant snag (again), the roll up window cranks run right into the new custom roll bar. DOH !! :confused59: So ... just ordered up a pretty nice universal Electric Life powered window kit, with the GM short spline power crank handle switches. This should be fun as I do not believe anyone has ever tried this conversion yet. Also, whats so funny is the fact that in the pictures the wheels/tires look like a normal size when in fact they are 35" tall !! https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1853/...1c1aeed1_b.jpgel1000-ka by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1883/...f1c9a9937a.jpg45820_400x388 by Steve Heck, on Flickr |
Very nice build, I enjoyed following it. Are you planning to run rear fender flares?
Regards, Larry |
fender flares
Thank you Larry ... on this one with the Aqualu aluminum tubs I am not going with rear flares ... and if you saw it in person I think you would agree. My next one the 66' .. this will have the flares
Cheers Steve |
Nice! power windows. I used to hope I could get power out of the engine lol
Do you know what I learned the first winter with my FJ tell you passenger to NOT kick the vent oper just before you go through a 3' flood over the road. But then again she will never it that again! |
Intake
Lol Wayne ... totally, I think those things are so funny, yet totally useful if you had NO AC !
So, finally fanned up a cold air box for the LS ... next some satin black paint and some powder coating for the lid, and yes proper button head bolts https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1882/...7e45b4f8_h.jpgIMG_9505 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1878/...4a2b55db_h.jpgIMG_9502 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1853/...676d3bdb_h.jpgIMG_9500 by Steve Heck, on Flickr |
It looks good.
|
Quick question are you going to pad the Roll cage or are you short like me where there is no chance you will wack your head on it.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
height
Hey Marty ... so I am 6-2" and have tons of clearance to the roll bar ... that said, if this thing where to be ever taken off road you'd absolutely want to pad her up.
Engine bay 99% done https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1876/...a06166b0_h.jpgIMG_9519 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1847/...3f693daf_h.jpgIMG_9523 by Steve Heck, on Flickr |
Whos power brake setup is that? Looks like two different reservoirs right there together? One smaller than the other?
Thanks! Jeff- |
brake system
Jeff ... Thats the Hydrotech system from Jim, we worked together on getting the mounting perfect for a stock 40. The PSC reservoir is for the brakes and the Chase bays tank is the rad overflow
Cheers Steve |
Thanks Steve! I remember asking about it early on, but then saw the PSC reservoir and was curious if you had done something different with those guys.
Jeff- |
Chase Bays
Jeff ... whats cool as well and may work for a few people here is the Chase Bays Windshield wiper fluid container/pump ... tiny, and looks great

I love this build. It is so different but the attention to detail is fantastic. Nicely done. |
new mirrors
Had to re-mortgage the house to pay for these ... :G-Dub:

Worth every penny!!!! |
mirrors
LMAO ... lance I keep telling myself that !!
Steve |
I should qualify that by adding "if they work"...
Can you see anything behind you out of them? |
Does the price of those include Mr ward coming to install them himself ??
|
Mirrors
Lance ... thank god yes, they work perfect and are fully functional (unlike 69 Camaro mirrors)
Ryan, just laughed my ass off because thats EXACTLY what my mechanic said !! Btw, good eye buddy, most guys here wouldn't know where they came from Steve |
Thanks ... I did hit up the website to see if my brain was working correct...this case it was ,most other days it's like displacement on demand lol
|
I'm telling ya' Steve these last two builds look better that a lot of the SEMA builds I've seen. Especially the attention to detail. Very, very nice stuff!

Ok., just because we had too ...and because I do not believe that anyone else has done it, we actually pulled off (proper) electric power windows in an FJ40 2 days of planning, and fabrication, this was VERY hard, and actually 'almost' impossible but we pulled it off. Click the pic to watch the video if interested https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1879/...e71234f8_b.jpgIMG_9624 by Steve Heck, on Flickr |
Nice work on the power windows, AND everything else. Love this build!
|
I cheated and went the easy route with the type that drive the factory regulator. Not quite as classy as your setup!
