Moving on to the induction tube. Because GM went to a bigger 95 mm throttle body on the LT5 we are going to a 4.5 inch induction tube.

I have mounted the dry sump tank in the passenger fender in front of the tire. (Where the battery used to be). The feed line ends up about 4 long and has to route over the DSE crossmember. I did not have an issue doing it that way on Red Devil, Jackass 1.0, Camaro X and Mayhem. My new set up putting it in the cowl significantly shortens the feed line. I have also upper the feed line to a -16 AN because I did not see a downside and it errors proofs the. Installation. So to answer you question it does not need to gravity feed. But the guys who designed the system told me not to make the feed line more than 5 feet long if you stay with -12 AN. People who think they can put an LS7 dry sump tank in the trunk you can not. I asked a few years ago. The oil pump was not designed to do that and it will oil starve. Mark Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Beautiful. Do you have any pics of where the air filter element is tucked in to the fender well? Just curious to see what you did there. Is there a closeout panel and the filter is blocked off from the engine compartment, or is the filter element just sitting right on the end of the pipe?
Thanks! |

Just curious... are you directing Matt and crew at every turn, or do they know what to do? It’s hard to tell based on the pics, and while I would guess you’re steering the ship, I just wondered how much direction you have to give them.

Matt is more than capable and does build cars without my daily interaction. On my stuff I know how I want it. We work and communicate very well. Sometimes we do it my way and often he has a better idea and we do it his way. In all the projects we have done together I can only think of a couple items that had to be scrapped because it did not work out. Early on Matt like to make things “street roddy”. I like think functional and OE looking. He nails that. Look at my Blazer and Lillard’s S15. Looks like a prototype GM build. Killer work and attention to detail. Matt thinks thought the whole build. He and his guys are very talented. Usually project creep comes from me. So to answer your question, yes I communicate with Matt daily because I’m a control freak. Does he need me to nope. What gas pedal are you using with the Modo Innovations plate?
Did you see they now have matching pedals for the brake and clutch? Very cool, thought of your car when I saw them. John |

I’m using the Gas pedal that comes with the GM crate engine harness. It was used in the first generation Cadillac CTS. To get an OE look I use this brake and clutch pedal covers off a Solstice. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...830d5f768e.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Mark.... did you have to do any mods to the firewall in order to clear the high pressure fuel pump? Putting an LT4 in my 69 Camaro, DSE Sub, using the Holley motor and trans mounts. I know you developed these for Holley. Any input would be appreciated.

Mark, i assume you had to trim the metal from the pedals? How did you secure the newer style covers to the original style pedals? Any info would be appreciated! |

Yes trim down the steel 69 Camaro pedals. They install like the stock rubber pads. I usually glue them on also. I’ve used them on my last 6 projects. Seems to work. Mark Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Some updates. I’ve never done this but Alex tucked and smithed the rear bumper. Looks great. The car was missing the rear bumper so we purchased a repo and fixed it.

Because the LT5 needs 2 intercooler pumps we needed to sort out the plumbing. The plan was always two 3/4 inch lines teed into a one inch line. To clean up the plumping we hard lined a lot of the one in lines. This required some 3/4 to 1 inch Y fittings. When you can’t find what you want make it.

Because a lot of track events want tow hooks we integrated one into the front bumper bracket.

We put the car on the ground to check tire clearances. Everyone always asks me about wheel widths and backspacing. It takes a lot of work and finesse to get a good tire wheel package. Every car is a little different and they are all tweeted to fit.

Camaro LT5
Up next week is exhaust. Because Holley make a kit now hopefully it will go quick. But like everything on these car I wanted to modify the “off the shelf” system.
Holley did some one off mufflers to knock down the sound pressure. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...693c3c191a.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...e76d261e31.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Man, everything looks so good. But, that's nothing new here. Once we see you start a new build Mark...we all know we're in for a treat. I like how you're adding a few custom touches on this one. :king:

Mark, I was looking at the Dorman clutch master cylinder CM350014 on Summit's web page and they state that it is plastic, on page 11 yours is aluminum. Am I looking up the wrong one? Thanks

What size did you go with? I was wondering what type of gains should come from a 2.5 to 3” exhaust

Manufacturers change their suppliers all the time. When I ordered it was aluminum. Maybe they changed it or the description is wrong. Dorman is most likely concerned with function. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This car is full 3 inch exhaust. Supercharger cars are less sensitive to exhaust back pressure than a N/A or turbo car. On Charlie’s Riv we did full 2.5. Not exactly sure how much power we lost if any when we did that. I have not had a chance to dyno a direct 2.5 vs 3. I do know these engine move around 1600 CFM of air at full power! My cars will put so much heat into the exhaust the pipes are almost purple to the tips. So it gets very hot and grows 3/4 of an inch. I’m doing a 3 inch so the system will live on track. The reason I’m going to bigger mufflers that the system on Gunner with a stock LT4 it would not meet the sound requirements at our local track Waterford. So bumping the power from 700ish to 900ish I’m sure I’ll need more sound control. I’ll bet this car will not meet sound also. But they do not measure on practice days! On a side note my neighbor could hear Jackass 2.0 on the highway at WOT 3 miles away. LOL. These cars are loud at WOT. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
When I first built my car i wanted the noise. Now I want to quiet it down yet feed it more power. Debating on upgrading to a 3” if I can add more power but it has to be quiet. Another big problem of mine is how low my car is and I’m just thinking if I want to deal with the head ache for some small gains. On a sbe ls3 heartbeat setup my car made 707rwhp and 606tq using a stage 2 na cam.

Awesome. I love the small attention to detail that you're doing. It's the little things that add up and really make the car stand out.
Bumper looks great, far better fitment than stock for sure! Love the slick integration of the front tow hook. Looks like it's a threaded boss and you can just remove it when not tracking it? As always, thanks for sharing! |
Dorman clutch master cylinder

I saw the same thing on the Summit site when I was looking for my new master cylinder. I looked it up on Amazon and it was described as having an aluminum body. Like Mark says, I think it is an error in the Summit description. However, I ordered mine from Amazon just in case. Also, I had trouble finding 5/16" OD tubing here locally. I wound up ordering a piece of 316 stainless, 0.065" wall tubing 1' long from McMaster- Carr (PN 89495K405) I've got all my parts on hand. Will swap out the pedals and master cylinder next week since we are in Covid 19 time out. Hope this helps. Wes |

I purchased to Dorman part several months ago and it is aluminum.
The Wagner replacement part is made by AP, so in either case they are pretty good parts. Rockauto had both. The Camaro has a 3" system exiting at a 45* angle backward just behind the rear tires. 17" Magnaflow mufflers is like stuffing 11# in a 10# hole. During idle and cruise it's quite nice but at WOT it makes all kinds of noise. With the Magnaflow being an absorbsion type it tends to get louder over time as the supercharger is tough on them. |
