Make sure you watch Karate Kid a couple times -- so you get the "wax on, wax off" detail right. |

Thanks for being the poster child for "what to do when buying a used motor." When you spend that kind of coin you really need to check everything regardless of who built it...valve spring and heads prove it!
Hurry up and get that bitch on the road, I want to be the only one left on jack stands...a man has to have a goal. |

Wanted to show you guys a couple of pics of the Improved Racing Sump and Crank Scraper that I installed in the LS3 oil pan.
I had heard quite a few guys on the vette forum who recommended these for greater oil control for those who were road coursing or frequenting larger auto crosses. It was 300 bucks, and came with new oil pan gasket, new oil pump ring gasket, the crank scraper, and finally the sump/trap door setup. Here are a few pics of the install. Here is the factory windage tray after pulling off the pan and the oil pump pickup tube. Ready for Crank Scraper Drop it over the studs and start measuring for clearance. I.R. calls for .020 to .060 of clearance to the crankshaft. It is clearly marked for orientation, and install is fairly straightforward. Since this motor has aftermarket Crank, Rods & Bolts, I had a fair amount of filing/grinding on the crank scraper to achieve the necessary clearance. After everything was clearanced, I went ahead installed the sump and torqued down the studs for the final time. Ready for the pan install. |
