Matt,

Car looks amazing in version 2.1. I apologize if you already stated, but what steering wheel are you using? Looks to have a nice size to it.

Thanks. I don't think I ever mentioned anything about the steering wheel. I decided to replace the old one (a Momo "Race" wheel) with a Momo Mod 08 wheel because the latter fits me much better. The Mod 08 has some dish to it making it easier to reach. It also keeps my legs from hitting the wheel. I don't think it is bigger than the old steering wheel, I believe they're both 350mm (13.78 in.) but because of the placement it definitely feels better than the old one, which seemed small and far away from me.

Congrats Matt and BOS!! What a great car it is! I love it!! I know you all were totally stoked about the award and should be, but for me, seeing that Dick was unable to wipe the smile off his face even the next day....well that says it all!! It was a lot of work to do the car twice, and in record time the second go around! This award is huge and well deserved.....enjoy! :woot:

Matt, congrats on the award. Definitely a fine piece of machinery. BOS did some amazing work to get it back in order so quickly.

Matts car is awesome. The pictures do not capture how nice that ride is.

I second that , and I saw it before the new work done.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Positive feedback means a great deal to everyone involved, especially Dick, and maybe even Jon, although I don't think he'll ever admit to being happy about anything

If anything, the car came out too nice. It's worth so much I worry about driving it sometimes, but then again, it's worth too much to just let it sit, collect dust and not enjoy it. Besides, I think the guys proved they could buff any little scratches or cone rash out if need be.

I'm really looking forward to RTTC at the end of this month. I don't think the car has had more than 300 miles on it since SEMA. I'm hoping to go out to Adams out in Riverside tomorrow and see how the car goes now that it has different shocks, brakes, floater and front bar on it. I'm also going to head on down to Cars and Coffee in Irvine this Saturday in case anyone else wants to meet up.

Matt

p.s. I'm sure some of you guys already know, but I'm exited to say we've got a new project cookin' over at BOS. I hope (and by I, I mean my checkbook) that it isn't going to be nearly as nice  It is going to be a wild little car though, and I'll start a thread when there is a little more going on.

Update: I have been hanging around Steve Rupp too much. D!ck has been really patient though. I have at least two shelves full of crap, and to my knowledge, he hasn't sold any of it on ebay yet (despite his claims) Not only have I developed a penchant for managing to acquire new parts, but I've also developed a bit of a knack for needing new parts as well. Last year at the Costa Mesa Good Guys show, I couldn't believe that Steve had managed to wear out the 1-2 synchro in his T56 Magnum, I thought those things were bullet proof. In any case, he ended up swapping in a new one, and shelving the old one to save for Track Rat, after a rebuild. Never to be outdone though, I wore out the synchro in my Viper spec T56, and by "wore out" I mean I utterly obliterated it. Sometimes we can do nothing more than laugh about the stupid things we do, and this is one of those times. Steve probably wore his T56 out competing at Optima, or some grand event. I was driving a couple of friends around, they wanted to the car to go fast, so fast it went, all the way through second gear, and then... not quite into third, but definitely into first. The engined revved well north of 7000 rpm. I pictured valves flying ever which way, and general destruction of everything mechanical in the drivetrain. Turns out the engine survived, (we'll find out this coming weekend at the Cal Speedway), but my 1-2 synchro was gone. Back to the shop the car went. We pulled the trans and wouldn't you know, the output was wiggling around too. Scary. Anyway, in went a new T56 Magnum, with a nice usable overdrive gear (.62 puts me at 2000 rpm at 60 mph, and 2400 at 80). My clutch had also taken some abuse, so an upgrade was in order. Steve called over to Centerforce and got me a great deal on a new twin disk. Thanks Steve!

Thanks to D!ck the car is all back together now, and I'm ready to try and break something at the Hotchkis sponsored autocross at the NMRA event this weekend.

Oh, and before I forget, the car is wearing some new Anvil parts. Mike @ Musclerods rear spoiler turned out killer!
