Good stuff Dave, that cooler will definitely be beneficial for you. How much do you think the aluminum driveshaft helps? I've thought about getting one myself as the 1LE Camaros came with aluminum driveshafts from the factory...so there are used ones out there to be had.

Look forward to seeing your mods that are going to be done this weekend.

Thanks man. I'm not sure how much on the DS but I've read usually 6-8 lbs savings for a stock unit. I've really tried to go light on everything -- light flywheel was there, so added a light metal clutch disc and now the driveshaft. Esp since mine is such a high revver.

How much can you pick up a 1LE shaft for?

I have seen them for $150 bucks, I'm thinking it might be worth it. What do you think?

I wouldn't rank it high on the priority list I don't think, unless you were at a point where you thought the stock DS wasn't going to hold. Unless you found a great deal on one, I would probably do it later. My stock steel DS was doing just fine, but since I needed a change in length I decided to shop for a "deal" and got lucky.

Disagree with that logic. Once you start pushing factory capacities and racing, it's time for a matching driveshaft that is engineered to take the abuse intended. A driveshaft failure ain't pretty.:D

Dude, that thing sounds pissed off uncorked. Great progress on the upgrades, and good luck this weekend on gettin her done. Just checked your last email , my project is in the "pro-parts collecting" stage so I'm in no hurry for the trans.

Kick ass SeaBass!

Listen to this guy^

And IMOHO Once you get to a certain point... in most cases it's not one thing that makes a big change, it's all the little changes that add up

Agreed, but hell you can say that about a lot of things really. As a matter of priority, and the fact that many of us aren't "overpowering" our driveshafts, I'm not sure it's a HIGH priority, that's all I'm saying. I ain't dropping the clutch at 4000 rpm with sticky tires, and that's what usually kills driveshafts and drivelines parts.

I don't know the last time I read about a twisted DS on the PT forums... On Yellowbullet or LS1tech? Yeah, plenty.

Listen to THAT guy? No way!

Agreed, and I'm really just adding little things for now .... and it's fun to add little things here and there.. One big thing left (hopefully at some point) is to add a full frame. Working on that plan but I like trying to compete with my stock sub and leafs for now.

But all that stuff is moot unless you are working on your driving and practicing to get better and learn your car.
