Personally I am not into the huge 315's I would be happy with a 285 40 17. if I could get it nice an low. |
are the 67-68 outer wheel wells differet than the 69s? cause todd(vegas 69) has 345s with dse tubs and g-bar it it pretty low and still clears... but its very tight.

The car sits lower then the G bar will go. If I put a wider tire, it would hit the lip of the fender due to the over hang being closer to the tire. The lower link on the G bar is just a tick below level if that gives you an indicator how low this car is. I could fit a 345 if we wanted to raise the back of the car. We will have to modify the upper shock mount to be able to run this ride height. The mount under the bar design of the upper shock mount is just a waste of space in my opinion and a poor design, cheaper to build but a waste of space. It motivates me to start on my own rear suspension kit. We will be changing that mount design when the car is totally disassembled and more able to get underneath. Right now the coil over spanners are against the adjuster knobs. If I ran it like this I should run a shorter shock body with a stiffer spring just to avoid bottoming out.
I hope this clears up any issue. Ride height and stance are key factors in all the cars we build. We find the deesirable ride height and modify everything to make it fit from there. I told brian (63 nova customer, Brian Mc )last weekend that every extra inch lower is like 10,000 more in some instances just to not have the headers drag and suspension bottom out and tires that rub. That is why Johns 66 is difficult, the ride height and the amount of crap in that car. |

i thought dragging headers was the new IN thing to do.... Rich your car is lookin sick. I like it with the blower, can't wait to see that thing on the road. there are going to be some bad ass rides coming out of that shop pretty soon what with the 57 truck and your car, that will be cool to see. Did you decide on some wheels yet? |
Brian,
I never imagined how secure I would feel with my car being completed by someone else but Rodger makes it so easy and the quality of his work is really starting to show. My car is a totally different project from the norm Ironworks puts out put I think when the Novas come out to play Rodger will really have his hands full with clients clamouring to get their projects in his shop. We will have to get together on the play ground as soon as your car is completed. Are you planning a trip to the shop anytime soon? Rich |
