This was the toughest group I have seen in years. Congrats to all

It looked to me like the brakes were locked up on the roadrunner, And that in turn fried the trans fluid in the Brunno convertor on the front of the Lenco trans. Amazing what a backwards check valve might do to your day at the show. There were quite a few cars that did not survive the cruise to the autocross let alone the first lap in the autocross.

I think the autocross is good test but I think those cars should be driven somewhere Friday night for the show. And then like the Hot Rod of the year award maybe run down the drag strip. Shoot even up the freeway Friday night to the host Hotel. I took my Camaro up there Friday night and Me ( The Driver) almost did not last. It was HOTT. The award is called Street Machine right?

In the True Street drag races they make all the cars go on a 30-mile drive and when staging for the cruise they have to idle for 10 minutes or so.. that tends to weed out the "race cars" and I'm sure it would eliminate the show cars as well.

Well that used to do this. I raced Pacific Street Car Association for a few years with Roger Holder in the true ten five class. And I can tell you they don't do that anymore in the PSCA or West Coast Hot Rod. We ran a 3 gallon gas tank under the hood and had the smallest radiator we could possibly run. There is no way any of those top categories could cruise 30 miles without being towed. Heck alot of the turbo guys went to aluminum exhaust off the turbos.

Great time as usual, the picks choosen were fantastic cars and fabrication.
But I spent most of the time viewing the rods this year with my son for the short time we were down there. The humidity was pathetic and was my main reason for cutting the trip short.

I can vouch for this statement. Even with the Dynamat that floor got HOT!! I know this because the little hair that I have on my calves got singed off on the ride over!!

I like the Ring Bros Mustang, Innovator and that black T/A, which I believe was done by ASP. Those would be my 3 choices.

Your right we built the black firebird, and I appreciate the compliment! We had a blast with the car in the autocross, but I agree Dragon, Innovator, and the Runt were all VERY awesome cars all properly prepared for the show. The bird was loaded with dead bugs and road rash, the owner and I can't resist driving her all over so its hard to compete in shows...she's just meant to haul a**!!

Roadster Shop 07-13-2011 12:52 PM

I wanted to say thank you on behalf of the Roadster Shop for all of the great support we have received from the Lateral-G community. There was some extremely stiff competition this year and we were greatly honored to to be selected as the 2011 Street Machine of the Year among such incredible cars. I honestly feel that this was the strongest field of pro-touring styled cars that has come together for a single event. There were probably 10 cars that should have been in the Top 5. it was great meeting new people and catching up with those that we only get to see a few times a year at events like this.

We are in the process of updating our website and will have the entire build book online for everyone to look through along with in process and completed pictures.

Thanks again for all of the support and compliments on the build. It definitely keeps us motivated to raise the bar and build the next one better!

-Phil

Bigtime congrats Phil to the whole RS crew. Great work. And all the cars were simply amazing. Man, to see how far this "hobby" has come blows me away sometimes!

Beers for all!
