and yeah as another who is working thru the header mod & steering shaft placement and clearance I wonder too....

I actually had a shaft mocked up with my steering wheel at one point through those headers before the motor plate was installed. I'm going to go with a Woodward Steering column and quick release. It's going to be tricky but I found a way to make it work. Don't worry, I'll post detailed pics.:)
