Guys I can back up Rob that the Chevelle that was next to his car was just as long as his!

Rob it was cool to hang out and check out RS! Wow do they have as awesome setup there

Ripped 09-28-2012 06:57 AM

A shame to hide all that work underneath. Maybe you need to carry around some mirrors in the trunk, so you can lay them on the ground when you park it somewhere?

I've actually been thinking about the possibility of 18"/19" steelies with dog dish hubcaps. Heck there are OEM steelies in that size.

When I sent Phil my dry sump to mock up the motor and build the mounts he said I'd be better off with the car being upside down.

I want the car to look like a 60s muscle car. Sure the low stance and wheels will give it away as not stock but I am not looking for obvious bling. To me the beauty of the chassis will be in the way the car rides, stops and corners while appearing to not even be there. :D If somebody is really that intrigued they can stoop down and look underneath.

Love it!

I don't really have the "personality" to hang out at parking lot car shows... there's always some guy that comes over and asks "hey - mind if I look at your car"? I always want to reply -- NO! Ya DipStick.... that is why the car is at a car show isn't it? OMG... <sounding like a Valley girl>

I like the steelies and dog dish! Oh yeah! The ol' sleeper look... I always did like cars done that way.

Rob let me know if you find something like these? That is exactly what I have wanted to do for my wheels!! When I asked before everyone said I was crazy because of how much they would weigh.

Maybe I do a street set of 18" steelies with some smaller tires like 255 40 18 and 285 40 18.

I think you got all of it right DG. Turns out you ARE the man! :unibrow:

I vote for the dog dishes, but on custom aluminum wheels that look like steelies.

So back to talkin about that big back end? :_paranoid

that hurts DG :( :(

I've been doing a lot of planning since my trip to the RS, and a bunch of work around the house.:faint:

The weekend after SEMA I'm heading to TN to pick up my motor and then Blair and I are off to Rogers MN to dyno my motor. I've been gathering up some oil lines and fittings along with an in line filter for that session.

Other than that I've been thinking a lot about wheel choice.

CLean wheel that fits the theme of an early NASCAR.

Ripped 10-15-2012 11:50 PM

I vote black.

I was going to do triple black on mine, but was overruled by my wife and daughter.

The more black wheels the better, as far as I'm concerned

So they got to pick the car color and you got to pick the Avatar............

67zo6Camaro 10-16-2012 11:06 AM

Love Black wheels, but so does everyone else.

So to push the new look I vote for dark gun metal gray in a semi gloss or flat. Not sure if the name gun metal gray is correct but basically a few notches down from a flat black that you see on some current wheels.

thats my 2 cents

Hey at one time I though about bronze so who knows what I'll end up with. The one thing about my car that follows the pack may be wheel color, Black is still the most likely choice. :D

Never say never, I was on a flight to Oakland CA yesterday next to a guy from Australia who was out here looking at a couple cars, you never know where life may lead you.

I'm glad you finally made it on here with your build in the introduction section. When you get some time you should put some more details together and start a build thread. I'm sure you've seen Dougs car, Ripped, another nice PT mustang. There is also a guy from Hungary building a PT cougar that is FE powered on here.

The Bowtie guys really aren't a bad crew to hang out with, good guys they just have weird taste in motors

And at the end of the day, is cheap and easy really all that? As I have found out, they were pretty worn out and used up when they got to me.

Rob you should look at black centers with graphite hoops, or vice versa that would be killer!

Matt

If I've been drinking tequila, sure thing. :unibrow:

If I was going to run the argent GT trim I would think that combo would be sweet. But in Cobra trim the only colors on the body will be the body color, black and polished/chrome. Since my vision of this thing is stock body lines and trim with a bit of homage to Fords initial dominance in the aero wars of NASCAR the wheels will probably end up plain old black.

There are a lot of things about this build that are going to be plain. I really don't want anything to jump out when you first see it.

I just want you to think you just saw this.

With some sneaky stuff under the hood.
