Well, aside from taking my car body to a chemical stripper it's been all home built so far. Mostly my garage but some of the welding has been done at my neighbor's garage.

IMO building a car yourself, making things work in different or better ways is at the core of the Hot Rod spirit.I subscribe to this philosophy.Store bought cars(checkbook cars) are cool but they are a possession not an accomplishment. My $.02 Frank

Here's the difference - to me - of home build vs ebay'd....

I build and do everything I can myself... I agree with you - that is the spirit of the hobby of hot rodding...

My buddy bought a 32 Ford recently... it's been to my house several times since for minor add ons or fixes. He called and said his brake lights weren't working - to which I said - you have the memory of a peanut, because I fixed that a couple of weeks ago by unplugging and plugging back in the brake lead on the master cylinder. He says "where's that"? I said "under the chassis at the end of the brake pedal".... Oh, he says... will you look at it for me? NO! Was my response...

IMHO he doesn't deserve to own it.

I posted somewhere on this thread early on, but here's a few of the latest pics. Progress has been slow, but at least she's now a roller with the drivetrain in it finally!

I really like looking at all of the high dollar builds on here and pro-touring. But, I find myself just skimming the pages and looking at the pictures. When I see a car being built at home with the owners blood, sweat, and tears I will pretty much read the whole build. I like seeing the messy garages, cramped quarters, and tools all over the ground. Makes me feel right at home.

I'll update with some pics in the next few days. More junk coming together!

I restored my car not once but twice in my garage. Started out as a numbers matching RS 327 and pretty much did everything except body and paint. The first go around it was restored to original and stayed til last December when I decided to give it a strictly bolt on pro touring feel and dropped in a new engine. You can check here https://lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=25268

We used 99-02 firebird seats. Here is a link to the build. There is 5 different albums and the interior pictures are in Marks 69 camaro finished car. The headrest has been shaved down also to fit the seat better.

Hopefully this is not too off topic, but there's something going on with your car that I'd like to point out. Judging by your avatar you don't mind beating on your high end muscle car. That is a trait seen more in those that do thier own work. A testament to the fact that we have more fun with our cars. And although my cars aren't any where near the caliber of yours, i've tried to do most of my work im my one car garage or a driveway. We did my Mustang's suspension and disc brake conversion in a buddie's driveway.

Every once in a while I get the guy at an autocross that says "It's a shame to race that beautiful car". I've always come back with it's a shame not to use the car for it's intended purpose. To drive it! Clearly looks are important to me, but using it is MORE important. I like function and form in the same package. :unibrow: That's the hard part.

I know it's not a 67 or 68 and not even in the same universe as a garage build, but Foose is working on a pretty radical 65 right now. I'm curious to see how that goes.

G-Body 09-27-2010 10:06 AM

Hey guys thought id share a few pics of my build "I know its a pro STREET" lol thats why i havent posted a lot of pics up on the site of it, but it has had sooo many subtle changes and mods done to it, and i finally go it in some new shoes and a first coat of fill primer lol, The car has taken alittle why'll to get done by myself.
So here it is my 48 Fleetline Pro Street Built right here in my Garage,
My blue nova is posted a few post above this one its been finished for a few years i did make some recent upgrades to it lately in my other shop.

Mine is 100% except paint built by just ol plain me.

Was to be a Bad ass PT car, then i went back to the track so it gets built as a Street Machine, but now i have second (make that third) toughts...and planning a slow turn around back to Pt to some extent :-)

Lead.

From this;

at 50k miles 100% original matching car
http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...9/DSC04298.jpg

To this somewhere in between...

http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...9/DSC00714.jpg

then this came along...

http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...9/DSC02528.jpg

And i farmed out the paint but did the hardcore of the body (patch and replacement)

You can see this pic on page 5 of car craft Feb 11 !!! (I was freakin out as i did not write in for that, but what a pleasant surprise!)

http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...9/DSC03895.jpg

And i'm putting it back together all alone and doing good, but yeah, i would like it to sit on its 19 x 8 and 20 x 13 Forgelines on 345mm wide P-Zero's, at this point, i think it would look really killer. I'll get it rolling and see afterwards if i come back being a Lateral G Practicing member lol!!
