Thanks guys!

Got the trunk finished up today. A few little dings to take care of, self etch primer, and a new coat of factory speckle trunk coating. I will let that dry over night and then matt clear coat tomorrow. Once this is done, I can get serious on the interior.

I totally agree with Marty! And it's good to hear you are clear coating it...that's a must to keep it looking nice!

Agreed. The original trunk coating was not clear coated and it got some moisture on it at the body shop. Needless to say it came off in a few spots so I had to re-do the bottom pan. It's not a bad thing since now everything is fresh and new to go with the paint job.

It looks great. My wife thinks I'm nuts because I check oout the trunk andunder the car. But I love it when their detailed . Nice work.

g356gear 05-12-2011 09:46 PM

Well...not too happy with the clear they send with this kit.....its a gloss clear. I was hoping for a semi of matt clear. I amy have to shoot it again.

waynieZ 05-12-2011 10:03 PM

Which paint kit did you use? I've got the Eastwood kit. I never looked at what clear they sent.

This was from Classic Industries. There is no labeling on the can as to what type of clear it is.....gloss or matte finish.

This weekend was interior clean up time. I got my original rear seats cleaned up with an upholstery cleaning machine. I didn't think that much crap could come out of white seats. They didn't look that dirty to start with but boy was I surprised. Basically chocolate milk was the result.

Nice and sparkley now. They came out great.

Good to see the updates. The trunk came out great. I love the hounds tooth interior colors.
(I have white leather interior as well, so I may be a bit biased.;) )

Thanks. I am liking the white interior with the red paint now more than ever. I think it is more bold combination than the orange and white.

g356gear 05-26-2011 09:31 PM

Got the rear seat in, original seat belts all cleaned and re-installed. Got the carpets in, sill plates installed, and the basics for the console back in over the last couple of nights.

Got the rear suspension all cleaned up after the body shop. Got the rear bumper on, rear rims on and dropped it down to the ride height the car will be at. Almost there!

Thanks!!

All 4 wheels on the car tonight after more cleaning. A few more little trim bits, a set of Marquez LED driving/turn signals, and some Anvil carbon fiber bits in a satin finish to finish it all off.

Congrats man! The car is absolutely stunning! I love the Garnet red. Make sure you post a pic of the Anvil close out panel installed.

user667 06-03-2011 05:04 AM

I agree with the rest of these bozos, nicely done.

g356gear 06-03-2011 07:09 PM

I really appreciate the feedback from members with such high caliber cars. Your opinions mean a lot.

It was pretty quick turn around. Car went in to the bodyshop the first week in September and I got it back to my garage for assembly in January. I probably could have got it done in a few weeks if I had all the NOS parts but took my time at it and did a few nights a week. Best of all....my wife is still in my corner on the project.

mexMan 06-03-2011 07:32 PM

May I make a suggestion? Tuck the bumpers.

Anyway, I LOVE IT! Is the interior completely installed? I like a lot the color, and the final result is pretty cool.

BBC71Nova 06-03-2011 08:05 PM

Beautiful car! That has always been my favorite color combo on a '69.

waynieZ 06-04-2011 02:16 PM

It looks awesome. You must be nipping at the bit to drive it, I know I would be.

If this was a car that I was going to cut up, I would have done mini tubs from the start. Problem is that this is a really solid and original big block car. If it was anything else I would do it in a heartbeat. Thanks for the great comments.:)

Oh...trust me...I am. Picked up the door panels today and other than that, I just have to go through a few things mechanically and I should be back on the road.

Exact same reason I didnt mini tub my wifes 69. Didnt feel right doing this to an orginal BB car.

69x22 06-05-2011 04:09 PM

Sweet car!

Bryan O 06-05-2011 09:33 PM

Thanks......you should thank the general! :) This is the way it came out of the box.

g356gear 06-26-2011 09:02 PM

Finally got the original door panels back so I could finish the interior. I also had to do some Dremel mods to the carbon fibre close out panel to get it fitting properly. The front end sheet metal fits a lot differently now than it did before ( actually square now).

Keep us posted.
