Thanx!

Here you go. I wanted to keep them low profile.

Hi Brian,

Looks good. I never liked the peak in the center and the swoop the cowl hoods have.

What type of bonding agent are you using for the fiberglass?

you guys are good

It is going to be a very bright and deep orange with a single black stripe. No metallic or pearl in the orange. I want a solid orange that screams muscle. It is brighter and deeper than hugger orange.

coolwelder62 10-10-2010 04:50 PM

Will the stripe be flat or gloss black.I like that look. The one DSE did on JR's camaro was I thought about doing if I paint mine silver.I think a satin black look's great.Orange will really pop. Can't wait to see the color over the flare's. :hail:

Vince,

We used Kent's Chemweld-45. The Kent line has been used in our shop for a while and we really like it.

The stripe will be a satin black and over the roof. It should look really mean. The roof is so low, the stripe will be very visable, even for the vertically challenged.

73CPCAMARO 10-13-2010 05:20 PM

Procharmo 10-14-2010 07:15 AM

I can't wait either. It's not my car but I feel eager to throw it into a 90deg turn at 80mph just to feel those massive tyres grip. Great focus on keeping it original looking but outrageously modified...

tones2SS 10-14-2010 08:09 AM

That's awesome. Getting closer!

crazy crazy crazy! I love what you did with the hood especially...

73CPCAMARO 11-08-2010 01:30 PM

We are on a roll with the application of the final color. All the parts are painted off the car. Once everything is painted, we will assemble the body parts and ship it back to the home shop for final assembly. We are using PPG's Envirobase Waterborne paint. We use PPG exclusively and it is amazing paint. When we converted a couple years ago from solvent to water, we were nervous at first. It has proven to be much better then solvent based paint.

Here are some recent shots of the hood and doors. More to come....

The satin black stripe will be applied later.

73CPCAMARO 11-09-2010 05:16 PM

The front clip is getting close to getting painted. We primed it and it will be removed for final prep tomorrow. The body will be painted on Friday and the nose next week or two. By the end of November we should have the complete car all painted and put together.

Here is a photo of the front clip.

Awesome build up! I had a 1970 CP Firebird back in the '80's. Like yours it had a completely removable fiberglass front end (all from Herb Adams) but that's where the comparison stops! http://www.crystalridge.net/cars/70formulafb.htm

Can't wait to see you at the Nationals!

73CPCAMARO 11-16-2010 06:51 PM

The body is now orange! After days of blocking, our prep department released the car to the painters today and it got shot color. We are very happy with the results. The black stripe will be painted later in the week.

Here are a couple photos of the bright ass orange!
