Great attention to detail and info B----thanks for making it all fit and thanks again for posting up the pics and bringing it one step closer to completion. I can't wait to try this setup out. See you on Saturday bro.

As if that car wasn't fast enough already---that's sick power with a 598 and 21 pds. I make right at about 1440 with 28 pds and 434 inches--with not so great cylinder heads--and it's not the newer style blowers that are more efficient---I bet he's driving the F3 with one of the CDS drive setups also. All things I will do with my new 540.

With this torque arm kit, it uses the original front leaf spring pocket to locate the lower trailing arms (also known as lower link arms). These arms are very nicely made and have an easy motion swivel link which proved very effective when I tested the motion of the rear end after mock up.

I am sure Doug will appreciate the value of the arms having an easy motion swivel link.

One of the other little things that popped up, but was fixed on the fly, was the rear bushing for the arm to pumpkin mount. The tab that was welded onto the rear end was located about 3/16" to narrow. So I did the basic spreading of the tabs.... and I was not happy. It was just to much of a difference to allow a tight fit and good motion without excessive wear. Instead, I pulled the bushing and inner sleeve out and milled them down 3/32nds on each side.

This worked and allowed me to move onto the next issue. For now, because I will be mocking this up one more time before final assembly, I opted to use a smaller threaded rod as a bolt for the rear torque arm mount. That way I'm not banging that bushing in place more than it needs to be and end up messing it up.

Nice write up as always Brett. The thing I'm sure Doug appreciates is you treat other peoples stuff as if was yours. You do things correctly and don't take short cuts just to make a quick buck.

The hydraulics haven't been installed yet?:lmao:

Seems the round part could easily be drawn up and cut on a water jet machine and then welded to the square mounting block? Then powder coat it or paint it...

Looking forward to rest of the updates B. After seeing the car today it was amazing to see all the work you've busted out already. Thanks for taking such good care of the car and treating it like it was yours on the fab work. Let's hope those tires clear---or back to Speedway we go for a haircut on the rear end.

PS--contacted Anvil auto--that dash face wasn't big enough for our idea. Missed it by about half an inch.

A cut-off wheel did most of this interesting pattern. Looks like a little man. LOL. You can see that I made a cut out for the top of the rear end pumpkin and also 2 smaller slices down around the drive shaft tunnel. Those 2 slices allow for the wider section of the torque arm to clear the floor during suspension travel.

LOL--Greg W permanently etched into my build. Nicely done.

My neighbors will miss the sound of my pipes dragging those long speed bumps i'm sure. It must be done though.

tones2SS 08-02-2013 04:59 PM

That's some serious fabrication going on. Keep up the good work.
