Thanks Joe. I appreciate the compliment. What are you and Paul working on? His chevy II is looking very nice. That new engine should move it down the road very quickly

Awesome looking car Jay!

Jay Hilliard 05-25-2012 05:34 AM

Its been awhile but Im making some progress again. Here a couple of engine pics with mock up of stainless headers and dash installed

This is the ZZ427 crate engine that GM says is 480 hp and 490 tq. I dynoed it last Sat and it made 526 hp and 518 tq.
I changed the oil pan and added a very good Miledon windage tray, used the tri-y headers shown and a 1" carb spacer. Spacer added 10 hp and 9 lbs tq.

Those headers are pretty badass, are they custom made?

fleet 05-25-2012 06:15 PM

Perfect choice of motor for your car...plus you get those valve covers.

DFRESH 05-25-2012 06:22 PM

Looks awesome Jay---that's great that your wife is able to enjoy the hobby with you--and that you are capable of putting such a sweet ride together. Looking forward to seeing the rest of it come together. That color is outstanding.

Thanks. I bought them used. They were custom built by Calvin Elston who builds headers for pro stock and NASCAR. They are made from burns stainless pieces and are a tri-y (4-2-1) design. Each pipe is individual.

Thanks Jeff. I want the engine bay to look semi-factory with not all the bling. I know its not LS, but since the car was an original BBC, I went back BB with just a few added cubes.

Craig67 05-27-2012 11:36 AM
