True! Powdercoat is placed in an oven to melt the powder which flows and fuses into a continuous hard, non-porous coating. While paint is appplied differently, it is never put in an oven, but if you paint it to thick then it creates a thermal barrier on metal. A friend painted a radiator back in 1990 with single stage paint in based on the body color, and I never had any problems with overheating.

Now, Dewitts has developed a new coating called Black Ice and the coating is formulated to give you the black look of original radiator, without the problem of heat transfer with traditional paint. http://www.dewitts.com/products/blackice

Mast Black Label 256cc LS3 heads. They had these to me in 2 days! Fitted with solid stainless valves and .700lift beehive springs. 69cc combustion chambers. Should give me around 9.75:1 compression on the 427 :)

Thanks for the info on the coating. I would be sure it's coating doesn't have a huge impact on the cooling. Otherwise it stays bare. No way id powdercoat it. That was the core support option only.

Thanks for the compliments on the heads.

There is a few articles about the Dewitts black ice, and .002 thickness is nothing. Stielow is using a Dewitts Radiator on Camaro XV, and I am sure he use that as well. If you leave it bare, then you might want to polish it. Of course, you always be polishing those parts.

Oh, I paint the core support too. I have tried powder coat in the past on my rear end. The powdercoat base and clear cracked, so we ended up sanding it down and repainting it. I had no problems with the paint on the rear end.

More parts in. Pictures courtesy of DV8motoring.com! Will have some pics on the car tomorrow (maybe without tires). Going to pick them up and test fit them prior to putting tires on them, just to be sure everything looks right.

Congrats Will! Those wheels make me ... :hapdance:

Same as RideTech's yellow GoodGuys camaro. Loved them too much to NOT get them. Got them in just under 4 weeks too!

I couldn't wait to see how these wheels looked on te car so I took the day off and rushed up to DV8motoring.com's headquarters to pick up my new wheels.

I took them to GAP Racing to test fit on the car and be sure everything fit the way it was supposed to. Everything looked perfect!

After the test fit was complete, I went back to DV8motoring.com's shop and mounted/balanced the tires!

Then it was back to GAP to assemble the rotors (preliminary, need to safety wire still), And put the wheels on to test fit with tires.

Now for the wheels on the car! Please dont mind the suspension settings. We've got some work to do to level the car out.
This is pretty much the stance I'm wanting for the rear wheel and it looks like it'll work.

Hard to believe they fit but we got them to work! They'll look a lot wider when the fuel tank goes in next week.

This is the stance I'll be shooting for on the front. Rear is a little low here.

efs69 05-10-2014 10:09 PM

 looking good. Man that's a lot of tire back there

will69camaro 05-11-2014 07:03 AM

Thanks. Yea definitely a lot if tire in the back. I know I'll need it and know this tire works (hooks on a friends 1200rwhp viper). I did mount the rear tire with hair spray and not soap. We've found it keeps the rim from spinning on the tire as much.

will69camaro 05-11-2014 01:54 PM

These came in Friday:

Will,

All you need now are the Playboy twin playmates. :D :underchair:

will69camaro 05-14-2014 01:32 PM

Not sure the GF would like that very much but I suppose a photoshoot with the car is relatively harmless... :headspin:

Just got off the phone with Texas Speed and my motor should be shipping next Monday! Now to call Nelson and see how they stand with the intake production!

Just like always. Been calling/asking about it for over 2 months now. Always "2-3 more weeks" or "too busy with building motors, haven't had time to get to it."

I understand being busy and I dont need it yet, just wish it could be completed sooner. About to give up waiting on it and just use the FAST 102 I have.

William

will69camaro 05-20-2014 01:06 PM

Well got another big step accomplished!

Car got moved back to my house (at least temporarily) so I can do some work on it there.

Had another "what's in the box" today and that's when the LSX 427 from Texas Speed arrived. Cant wait to go break this crate open and take a look at it! I WILL be getting more pics soon (not sure I'll get by there today).
http://i.imgur.com/CsoiGFY.jpg

Also had my Holley stuff delivered. Waiting on getting the ECU (Dominator is back ordered right now).

That's awesome William. Getting it home is a big step in the right direction.
Can't wait to see that engine.
Keep us posted.

will69camaro 05-27-2014 09:36 AM

So I went to visit the motor and pick up a few things from GAP to work on over the weekend. Unfortunately didn't make it very far with the car work as things always got in the way.

Took the cover off and snapped some photos of the wrapped up LSX427!

http://i.imgur.com/iwtDz37.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/JbVatpk.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/h1Ok184.jpg

I got the corner pickups and set the pumps in the Ricks Tank and it looks good. Planning out the fuel system and what pieces I need to buy.
http://i.imgur.com/ToyC4wr.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/O4Z8UmK.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/gF6ZVKj.jpg

I did run into a snag, and that was the CTS-V module needs to be modified for the corner pickups. I hadn't seen this previously (it was available online, just hadn't looked), as I assumed it would fit.
http://i.imgur.com/UAi6OoQ.jpg

The fix is relatively simple and I may try to come up with something else in order to make it retain stock module for easier swap out in the future.

Beyond that I made a little time this weekend to go grab a few craft brews at Jester King.
http://i.imgur.com/Cy3NOom.jpg

Also made a trip to see the new addition to the family. She's a mini aussie and her name is Emma. She's 4 weeks old currently so still a bit of time before we get to bring her home. She's second from the left (blue merle).

Awesome William. Great updates.
Got your engine, some nice brews and a nice little addition.
Good luck bro and keep us posted.

will69camaro 06-02-2014 09:09 PM

Got the remaining. It's for the engine ordered. Will be here in a few days. Can was a hard decision but with KP's help we picked one out! Custom grind 247/251 .624/.624 on a 118! Should be pretty rowdy!

William
