WILWAXU 06-20-2012 08:44 PM

AWESOME!

killer67 06-20-2012 09:08 PM

Amazing! Getting 14" of rubber to turn in the front is quite an achievement :hail:

carbuff 06-21-2012 08:38 AM

What are you using for a steering rack? With that much front rubber, so you have to update the rack or pump or anything to make it comparably drivable?

Love the truck! :)

Jr 06-21-2012 11:49 AM

I see you have a cooler in front of the radiator...what is the cooler hooked up to? Oil, trans, ps?

The truck will be at Columbus and running in the Autocross Sponsor Shoot Out. No plans yet for inner fenders. Probably run the truck with out them for a while. If we get time we will fab something up for it.

No plans just yet. Probably use it in something else down the line. We have enough shop projects that I'm sure it will find a home shortly.

Love the truck! :)

We were a little worried about the drivability with that big of front tire on the truck. We changed the power steering pulley to get a more out of the pump. Under tight slalom situations, there was a slight lag in the power steering. The pulley change took care of that. Otherwise you can't tell the difference between the 255's that were on there before. Steering feel is the same. We drove the truck 90 miles to Blackhawk Raceway yesterday and then put 50+ hard track laps on it. Steering feels great and the truck sticks like crazy!

It is a power steering cooler.

wiedemab 06-21-2012 12:57 PM

That looks BADASS!!! Can't wait to see it run at Columbus.

Musclerodz 06-21-2012 03:29 PM

We also now have engine number 3 being installed as we speak: an RHS Aluminum block LS- 510 cubic inches which should be good for 671.4 lb-ft torque at 4,700 RPMs and 704 HP at 6,100 RPMs

BBC71Nova 06-26-2012 04:10 PM

Hmm. Just when I thought this truck couldn't become anymore bada$$ you go and throw an RHS based LSx in there...

They are Forgeline RB3C's - really nice looking rims, we noticed the spokes are directional too so there is a left and a right which is a nice detail.

tones2SS 06-26-2012 05:32 PM

Very nice truck. Nice build guys!

RS-Chris 07-11-2012 03:01 PM

Well after some major improvements, the truck is running really, really well. Last weekend saw the first competition outing at the Goodguys Autocross.
Phil managed to nail down a personal best lap of 33.6 which, along with his other laps kept us to the top section of the time board for most of the weekend.
(We heard a rumor there were some other quick C-10'S there? ;))

Some pics and a vid from a VERY hot Columbus (track temp was around 150!)

Our 2nd round of hammering on this truck was after an invite to run the truck alongside the Popular Hot Rodding "Muscle Car of the Year" as an Exhibition entry.
With some front end tweaks based on how we ran at Columbus, we were eager to see how the C-10 compared against a strong lineup:

RingBrothers- 1966 Mustang fastback 'The Producer'
Kevin Miller- 1969 Camaro
Bob Bertelsen- 1971 Camaro
Detroit Speed & Engineering- 1966 Mustang fastback
Jon Clark- 1968 Valiant
Johnson's Hot Rod Shop- 1966 Nova
Year 1- 1973 Trans Am
John Cunningham- 1973 Firbird
Ken Edwards- 1966 Mustang
Woody's Hot Rodz- 1971 Vega GT

For those not familiar, 3 main events: Autocross, 1/4 mile drag and 1/8 mile speed stop. After the runs on each are complete, the results are averaged.

Final results:

Autocross:

Roadster Shop '70 C10 pick-up - 51.3573 average (Exhibition Run)
Detroit Speed- '66 Mustang fastback- 51.54967
Kevin Miller- '69 Camaro- 51.645
Alan Johnson- '66 Nova- 53.371

1/4 Mile Drag Race:

Year One- '73 Trans Am- 11.803 average
Roadster Shop '70 C10 pick-up - 12.31 average (Exhibition Run)
Ken Edwards- '66 Mustang- 12.462 average
Detroit Speed- '66 Mustang fastback- 12.55 average

1/8 Mile Speed-Stop

Detroit Speed- '66 Mustang fastback- 9.245 average
Year One- '73 Trans Am- 9.267 average
Roadster Shop '70 C10 pick-up - 9.323 average (Exhibition Run)
Jon Clark- '68 Valiant- 9.324 average

Good stuff Chris

Trucks are posting numbers, can I assume partially due to weight and weight bias?

Stilo 07-13-2012 05:00 PM

I think the enormous tires under it would be one of the main factors.

GRob 07-13-2012 06:48 PM

Guys what bore and stroke did you use in the rhs block to get 510 inches?

I thought rhs states the max for their tall deck as 4.6 stroke and 4.165 bore which gives 501.

Also, are you running an intake manifold spacer and custom headers?

Thanks.

samckitt 07-13-2012 07:58 PM

What CAD system do you guys use to design parts/frames/etc with?

coolwelder62 07-14-2012 07:09 AM

On your mustang setup, does that keep a 5x4.5" lug pattern?

The weight bias is actually a disadvantage. We ended up adding almost 200 lbs and a larger gas tank to the back of the truck in order to get closer to a 50/50 weight distribution. The truck tips the scales around 3,600 lbs so it is no lightweight.

They are wide vehicles to begin with so there is a lot of room for tires. We are running a 345 front and rear with out any body mods (except for mini tubs and removing the inner fenders.

Thanks for the info, but I don't think they will offer the tire clearance that we need. We will eventually fab something for the truck when time allows.

I'll get some updates together after the weekend of some of the new builds and some more custom chassis projects.

The Pantera was brought from another shop north of us. We will be doing the chassis and then it goes back to the other shop to get wrapped up. It's just a really cool car to see in amongst the other vehicles we have at the shop.
