Yeah that utube vid shows the death of the cone... Your rear sounds quieter E. Did you replace the gears?
Always enjoy seeing your car run. Thx for posting! |

Well, the wife HAD to buy our boy a Camaro powerwheels for his birthday and she HAD to have me paint it blue just like Blue Hour, so me and a friend Jake spent the better part of a night tearing it down and repainting it from red to blue. It's pretty close to the color, not exact but close enough for a 2 year old.
Today, July 30th is officially his birthday so we gave it to him last night because I had to work today and wouldn't be around for him to see it and use it. He's only 2 and already figured out the most important part... the gas pedal! LOL He can't steer for nothing (gets it from his old man) but he works that gas pedal like a mad man! HAHA! Anywhoozle, I present you with "Project: Blue Minute"! http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7126/7...880486ef_c.jpg |
THAT is awesome Eric! My Twins turned 2 on Saturday!
|
SWEET! I bet that thing has a killer turn radius too!!
No Sponsor inquiries yet? Give them time, they will come... Blue Minute. Love it! Thanks for sharing |

Priceless!!!
breeding more camaro fans, I love it..My three are 21/19/18...they grow fast! All three are fighting over my camaro when I expire lol |
Haha thanks guys. He loves the car... had his first real "meltdown" of his life when we tried to 'park it for the night'.... yeesh, that didn't go over well. LOL
|
Now that is cool. Nice job on the customized present.
|
Great photo--if you don't have that one blown up and in the garage for memories, you have to do so. Car looks great--that color is spot on--really like it.
D |
Nice picture! That should go on the wall in the garage for sure.

How big of a lip do you have on the rear wheels?? I'm trying to figure out what to order for wheels for my '67 and that's about what I'm looking for. Thanks, Matt |
AWESOME looking Camaro!
I have a 67 Firebird Convertible. so I am hoping you can help me out... Question: Did you have to mini-tub it "Deep" (going deep into the frame rail) to fit the 335/30/18's on it? Do you have any issues with rubbing? Any tips to someone currently trying to to this with DSE's mini-tubs right now? Also... if you don't mind... any tips on the Speed Tech Torque Arm? I am doing the same setup in my convertible. |
Sorry it took so long to get back to you guys, I completely missed these!

I went fairly deep I think, I don't have any issues rubbing, even when the rear end is articulating like going over a speed bump or going up my driveway, there's plenty of clearance. Anything specific that I can answer? The torque arm is fairly straight forward, the only real issue I had was locating the upper mount bar that comes in the kit. It can be a hassle to keep it held up while you weld it in place. ~Eric |
Welp, new updates!
The rear-end is back together and seems to be working a heck of a lot better. I even got a class win the very next event! Gotta love that! It was a bit hectic to say the least, first run I lost a lot of PS fluid after a line came loose, then I had a tie-rod bolt come undone. I ran back to the parts store, came back, reinstalled the nut and blasted off a winning time, all while being helped by fellow racers and even Nate, my competition at the event. I really do have to tip my cap to everyone who helped me out, it was great to see people come to my aid even if were technically competing. Big thanks and mega-appreciation. After our class win at the latest AutoX a package was waiting for me on my doorstep with a set of Triple Adjustable Shocks and coils from Ride Tech... missed my window to give them some flogging by virtually 24 hours! Such a bummer. None the less, Max decided he needed to help daddy assemble them, to which I happily obliged (hey, less work for me, right?!). Slave labor never looked so adorable! HA! So, I have a few fixes that the Camaro needs, it's running a bit rich right now so I have to look into the computer for that. I have to look at the PS hoses again to make sure those are still tight, I want to paint the trunk, calibrate the speedo again...etc..etc... always a list, just the items change that's all. Also, it turns out that my first book is slated to be published! The real brains behind the book is Myron Cottrell of TPiS. I just photographed some of it and made sure it was compiled well. If you get a chance, pick one up when it comes out! Look for my second book coming out shortly on a similar but different topic :) http://www.amazon.com/Build-Max-Perf...ref=pd_ys_iyr1 So, here's some pics. Pic from the class winning AutoX http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7125/7...d050cd6f_z.jpg Max helping put together shocks. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8305/7...697cefa9_z.jpg |
Thats the last time I help you beat me, ha ha.

Yea, thanks for the help..... winning!! JK, thanks man, I really did and do appreciate it!! :) |
Well, smallish, but major update to the car.
After running the single adjustable QA1 coil overs, I was pretty much told by everyone (Jimi Day, Scott Parkhurst, Randy Johnson... et al.) that I really needed to step up my shock/spring package to dial in more speed. That's where these Ride Tech TA's come in. Everyone I talked with wouldn't shut up about them so I figured it was worth a shot. I haven't any track time lately to fully test them out, but here they are in all their glory! Sorry about the crappy cell pics, it was dark in my garage that day. Bleh. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8037/8...5f84efe2_c.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8040/8...d6a90234_c.jpg |
Well, I suppose it's been a while since I made an update, but here goes.
Why removable steering wheel??? BECAUSE RACECAR! No, seriously the big reason was to help me get in and out of the car. Damn these long dancers legs!! LOL Thanks to Randy at D&Z Customs for helping me find the right hub/adapter and letting me talk his ear off at all hours of the night! NRG claimed that it wouldn't fit a '68 column but apparently they have no clue what the hell they are talking about because it fit just fine. The car is put away for the winter. Hell, I even got stuck in a snow storm 30 miles from home, but we made it just fine! Ok, on to the pics. http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...56357198_o.jpg http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...09770467_n.jpg |
I love the picture of the new wheel.
Between that and the dash insert you have it makes the interoir look awesome! I hope winter is not being too much of a pitha for ya, it sure has been challenging us so far. |
Please Don't tell us you drove in the MN salt!

It's finally spring!
Time for some mods! Now, I picked up a rear spoiler from Jakes rod Shop which should help my downforce a bit in the corners, so we'll see how well it works in June when i go back to Road America for the OPTIMA Challenge. Mmm.. Dat ass. http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...52192460_n.jpg Secondly, I took a ride up to Bighley's autobody and removed the heater box, blower and heater core. Should save me 15-ish pounds off the front of the car :) http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...82420561_n.jpg http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...08347004_n.jpg So far that's it! just waiting to get on the track to get the Ride Tech's all set up for road course season! |
Car looks fantastic!
|
So some minor updates to this.
It's finally spring and I hosted an AutoX recently and got spanked by a Neon... how sad. Regardless, I can finally get it onto a big track and let it loose. A have to admit fully that I did a major facepalm today after I looked at my dyno graph again and noticed that the redline isn't where I thought it was at 6K... nope, closer to 7K. I'm losing 50 horsepower alone! Stupid me! Should go faster now that I know I can rev it up more *insert maniacal laugh* So, spring time brings in fluid changes and a nut and bolt session. $165 later, the car has new fluids. *insert money raining from the sky* http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...68-nutbolt.jpg Seeing this my son had a little melt down that Daddy's car was "broken" and insisted on helping me put the tires back on. It was adorable. Kid was impressive to say the least, he's 2 and 1/2 and got all lugs started, takes after his dad haha! http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...g-1967-max.jpg Some car swag for me and the new little lady during our trip to OPTIMA http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...969-shirts.jpg Completely unrelated but I had a ZL1 upgraded to a custom "ZLR" that makes roughly 850 to the wheels in my garage... Looks good next to the 68, dontcha think? http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...g-1970-zlr.jpg |
Looks great, sucks about getting beat by a Neon! :poke:
|
Eric, I'm pretty sure it was a Honda Civic that beat you at the AX. Do you feel any better now?

Thanks! It's a bit weird to write about yourself, I'll be honest. Ok, well to give you all an update. I have been extremely busy with the car lately so here goes. I shot my car a while back in October for Camaro Perfomers and it finally came out! yay! Check out the July Issue of CP! http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...27604502_o.jpg So if that's not awesome enough, we went racing.... I went with the moto: "No Regrets" and boy did that ever show. I posted a personal best time of 1:54 at the shortened road course at Road America and left pretty much all I could out on the track and even some paint. That time got me 21st out of 71 entrants. Considering the level of competition, I'm quite happy with my time and where I fell. Last year I ended up in the middle of the pack and this year I vowed to be well over the top %50 and that's exactly what happened. I pushed hard and really took the car much further than it had gone up until this point. Regardless, I did have a little boo-boo. You can see it here. Skip to 3:30 if you want to see the "OOPS". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYmKLaF3aSU You can tell my apexes are pretty weak and had a hard time with take off out of the corners, so a lot can still be done suspension and driver-skill wise. Car was lightly damaged, nothing to worry about. Driver was fine. Car even went back out for more laps later. Here's video of 3 laps of the short course. The red Mustang had a 15 second head start and the one I pass near the end had easily a 45 second lead before I passed him. Such a rush to PASS a car! MAN!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvUfQSB8Jj4 Image of damage: Nothing major. http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...54017131_n.jpg The go-karts this year were JAM PACKED! Holy cow we had a ton of drivers. The team of me, brian finch, Mike Norris and the BFG guy AJ finished 4th out of the 13 (i think, maybe 15) teams. Which, frankly wasn't all that bad all things considered. http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...24172005_n.jpg We had lots of fun and will certainly do it again, this time I will go sub 1:50 as my goal, we shall see after I tweak the nut behind the wheel. Here's some obligatory shots from over the weekend. Bill Goldberg in a wig. http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...23748314_n.jpg Me and the girlfriend trying to get Mary Pozzi to pretend to be me and drive my car at the event. ( I would have paid her, I swear). http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...77644785_n.jpg Jim trying to help another fellow racer and camaro guy after his engine had some problems. http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...10581210_n.jpg Me and the little lady http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...35907831_n.jpg And finally, for now anyways (have 800 or more shots) an image my GF took. So rare to actually see a picture of me driving since I'm always behind the camera. http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...21449527_n.jpg |
Super cool car, nice to see it in Camaro Performers.
|
And very nice to see you drive it like its meant, and the patina is earned!!
Will it be hard to match the paint on such a repair? |
Just saw your spread in Camaro Performers. Have always loved your ride and reading your build thread. Congrats on the press and more great recognition and coverage by CP. That racing pic looks sick also. Great job.
|
I like the action shot. Your girlfriend did a great job with that one. Congrats on doing better this year than last too.
