I LOVE the amount of creativity going into this build:thumbsup: Fantastic job!!!
|
Thanks!!! A bit more progress. I built a new core support which gives me a bigger opening for a radiator.
Now using dual fans from a 2010 F150. One 15in fan and one 14.5in fan and they flow a ton of air. Air filters will be behind the headlights. Also received my pistons from CP. Could have used a shelf piston but I specifically wanted a spherical dish with no valve reliefs. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...0/829/l082.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...0/560/ji22.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...0/822/2wlv.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...0/854/pzfx.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/31/t345.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...0/853/1f6m.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...0/713/xgif.jpg |
wow very inspirational for sure. I love the it gets done when it gets done attitude! and just keep focusing the details love the symmetrical look with non symmetrical turbos and the air cleaner just further enhances the details..keep up the great work and we will keep following!
|
Thanks, I appreciate it! The air to air intercooler setup with the induction tube coming from one side was bugging the hell out of me. Just that was the inspiration for changing the induction.
|
Didn't get much done this weekend, where does the time go.
Modded the inner fenders to match the RS front suspension- http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...0/577/jtrk.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...0/534/zb9e.jpg |
I decided some time ago that I didn't like the trunk floor. I previously removed the spare tire well and filled it but the entire panel was a bit floppy with no factory gas tank supporting it, plus it wasn't symmetrical.
This is a big panel and making it was a bit more challenging than I expected. I made about 5 of these things and this is the only one that didn't end up in the dumpster. I also made hat channels on the mag brake for some extra support. Before and after- http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1039e19d.jpg http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/...ps21be8547.jpg http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/...psfbdbc40a.jpg http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/...ps88c11e9a.jpg |
Looks fantastic! Any chance you've gotten your new wheels back from chrome yet?
Absolutely love this build. |
The other one still wouldn't flatten out? :welder: This looks good, too.
|
Looks great Jim!!

Well looks like I posted that too soon! Thanks guys but after final welding the panel had a bit of warpage so I drilled out 200 plug welds and tossed that one in the dumpster too :lostmarbles:
I had the holes for the welds spaced .500 apart and after looking at it I think a bit overkill. The wheels are chromed but not in my hands yet. They went back to Evod for painting of the simulated sidewall and other details along with mounting the tires. http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/...psa371fd5d.jpg http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7d621a9b.jpg |
Will trade house for wheels....
|
Greg, done! :relax:
Sooo, I finally installed another bastard whore trunk floor into this thing. Changed the design and copied the one in my 59 Cadillac. (same bead width and spacing). Hat channels are 16 gauge, floor is 18 gauge. Turned out really nice and is strong as hell. Never thought it would be this much work! http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/...psbdaaa9cc.jpg http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/...ps620f9815.jpg |
This car is a collection of so many great ideas and execution. great job man!
|
Jim,
Any updates? Andrew |
Hi Andrew.
I haven't done a damn thing actually. Broke myself buying a new house that has a ton of garage space (2 car, 4 car and a 36x47) but don't currently have a functional shop. The wheels did finally arrive and they actually fit the car this time which is nice. http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3978e441.jpg http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/...ps41bf83dd.jpg http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8d9df81a.jpg |
Just crazy kool wheels!!!
Smart move on the house! |
Jim those wheels are freaking awesome!!!
Nice on the new house!!! Now it will take you a year to get the garage setup, unless your GW :mock: |

|
Its going to be great watching what come out of there! Nice shop.
|
Coolest trusses. Makes that place much more inviting over a box.
|
Sort of like Bill Engvall,
Here's your motor: http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversion...ls1-build.html and I really want the 59 :) |
Love those trusses.
|
Thanks guys!
I'm really looking forward to having some room to breathe. Being able to roll the car off the lift and not be outside? Just that will be great! :) |
Looks great Jim, congrats on the new place!! Sooo what new car did you pick up?? It wouldn't be a new Z would it??? :popcorn2:

Haha! I've been working on the garage so long I have lost interest in working on the Brougham. Have to move it from the garage to the workshop and snow on the ground is not motivating me.
Maybe I'll get back on it when the place thaws out? Only update is the garage is done so I now have a good place to work on stuff :) http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/...psc7udws3y.jpg http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/...psp1gol8sy.jpg |
Nice!
Pool table + that floor + me on the break = quarter panel dent in the F Car :smiley_smack: |
Wow what a place to work! Very Nice.
|
Thanks! I finally got through most of my other auto maintenance stuff that was piling up and dug out the Brougham yesterday.
Happy to say the rear floater setup works out perfectly in that, I can easily put the rear wheels on without disconnecting any suspension parts. Going back to work on this now, probably will just start a new thread as imageshack has all of my older photos as missing or mega-sized. http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/...psas7zzp3w.jpg http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/...pstbixdcwf.jpg http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/...psa0omoead.jpg |
That shop is INCREDIBLE! We'd probably never leave if we had a space like that!
|
as a cadillac fan im glad to see you have some "fun" problems...2 nice caddys, sexy ferrari, amazing looking shop. i look forward to more updates on the car as i was losing hope that this one was getting done
