Regarding Dan's attention to detail, he is replicating the Forgeline in CAD! I thought the prelims were already incredible! http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psabf67782.jpg Should have the final by tomorrow! |
OK I have got to say it if I do say so myself!!!!
This is the "BADDEST freaking fifth gen Camaro in The UNIVERSE!!!" I can't thank Dan enough for all his hard work! He has literally blown it out of the park and has been an extreme pleasure to work with!

Al empty your pm box please.
and holy sh!t is this rendering incredible and it makes me want to stop and buy the White z28 that I am going to look at today before joining the Power Tour !!!!!!! |

That's going to be a great looking car. Once finished, I think it would be cool to get a picture of it next to a stock Z28 just for comparison purposes.
Good luck to you guys! |

OK, so lets try these again. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps288eef6b.jpg Well its still losing 90% of the detail and crispness. I try reducing the size more. Here are a few more. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps44732a4e.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0ec1f4c6.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psac307954.jpg Notice the factory plastic wicker bill is being replaced with an aluminum brush clear anodize version. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1d8cb86f.jpg The diffuser is going to be a combo of carbon and brushed aluminum. |
WOW! This car it turning out super nice. That rendering is over the top. Your boys are doing an increadable job!
|
This just keeps getting better and better.

Dry sump plumbing time. The tank will need to notched into the frame rail for clearance. Breather is going on the other by the opposite to the brake booster to balance out both sides. All tanks (dry sump, breather, brake booster, PS, catch can and over flow) are getting anodize gray for continuity. Peterson used 5356 welding rod for the sump and breather tanks as normal welding rods will anodize in a different color and look funky. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps42f3b460.jpg |
Justin is cruising
More progress on the rear cradle. The diff will have different mount point options to raise it. Here is the before http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps46c6d9eb.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3faf1b24.jpg All the notches have super tight tolerances. Not an easy task. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps58e32fa2.jpg Fab up the bracket to relocated the gas filler cap in the trunk. The welds were done without any welding rod. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4459d6b4.jpg It will have a huge XRP super nickel -20 AN on the fitting with braided black hose routed to the tank. Should look cool. |
Just Amazing!!!!!!!!!1st.Class build.Make's me want to run out and buy a 5th.gen and leave all crazyiness of working old rusted crap behind.:trophy-1302:

Lets call this tubular Thursday..... The basic cradle is done. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps593a2b66.jpg Now they are welding it up. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psa7d7c2e0.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psa66e8a65.jpg All the card board template are made to mount the arms. This one will be have triangle cuts to lighten it up. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps39790446.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psdd6f562e.jpg Unfortunately its going to take two weeks to get the plates water jet so Justin wont be able to be able to complete the cradle in the three weeks he allotted to be in Wisconsin. . |
Here is another project going on at Xtreme. Not PT but still a cool 67 non the less.

Got to give props to Justin. Hes doing an incredible job considering this is his first time making something like this. He did the did the exhuast hanger. They will be cap at the end. Also made the plate for the mount the diff cover to the cradle. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps94011d72.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7704fc02.jpg |
Random updates:
Justin modified the DSE motor mounts to allow for a 2" set back and 1/2" drop. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps86fb493f.jpg Dailey's dry sump is in. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psa157937b.jpg The dry sump tank was being mounted on the front right wheel well. Space was a a premium as the tire was hitting the tank when clocked inward. To gain 1" of clearance between the tank and tire required notching the tank, eliminating the mounting bracket and direct mounting it the frame rail. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3e3dd71f.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psd9beb64b.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps795cf215.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6cc9f1b4.jpg The trans mount needed to move back 2" and 1/2" back also. The was done by simple creating a 1/2" thick spacer that also relocated the mounting points. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psd0d6edf8.jpg In the quest to shed as much weight as possible, our buddies at Derale are helping us out by remaking the steel brackets for the front coolers out of aluminum. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psd7fe98e1.jpg Every ounces helps. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps42e3047e.jpg Katech is making a new set of valve covers for G5.R that won't have the bolts for their coil bracket as there's no need. They're also removing the filler caps since it's now dry sump, and lastly, they are also relocating the PCV NPT female fittings to the back of the valve covers, making for a really clean look. They sent us a set of the black anodized billet caps that go around each bolt so that we can strip and finish them to our liking. Part of the reason we didn't want the caps to be black is because the ones on the current carbon valve cover have now turn purple and look like crap. Here they are before the anodizing remover was poured in. Anybody interested in the product, let me know and I will post the info. It was really good stuff. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps253540ed.jpg The two in the bottom have gone through the stripping process. The two on the top have been brush and hand polished with Mothers metal polish. That's really good stuff. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8863322b.jpg |
Lastly, Nathan started on the roof removal.
Here, he's cleaning off the paint to get a better view of where the stop welds are. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psce48fc27.jpg Next, he did a pilot hole. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4a51c699.jpg Next, drilling out the stop welds. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1203f966.jpg Grinding them down... Finally http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...psf620b330.jpg Next, cleaning the foam filler and spot welds. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4dc8ac19.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5bc823e9.jpg http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps43186939.jpg I will post more updates tomorrow |
Just went thru half this thread.

Intake tube was cut to size. XRP oil filters mounted. Having one on each side makes for a really symmetrical look. Still need to figure out best way to mount the breather tank on passenger side by firewall. http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/...ps38ea0a23.jpg Pictures really don't do it justice as theres so much details. You just need to see it 3 dimensionally. |
Wow !!!

Wow, is right. What a great pic of the engine bay. Gorgeous!
Easy-Off oven cleaner takes anodizing right off. I believe it's the yellow can that you have to use though. |
Great stuff Al! Your buys are doing good. Subframe is impressive.
Make sure you get the boys to wear a dust mask, CPOD is a bitch! I have early signs of Asthma due to metal grinding and spraying primer without a mask. |

Even faster is CRYSTAL DRANO sold in a small can -- Home Depot etc --- put some in a plastic bucket --- add some water... put parts on some kind of wire and dip 'em... I use a clear plastic bucket so I can watch them boil -- because when you get the mix right --- it's friggin' boiling! And the anodize comes off in seconds... Rinse 'em off... and you're ready to polish or paint or whatever you're doing. |
It looks amazing Al. The boys definitely have a ton of talent. I always look forward to seeing your updates.
|
They are doing a great job with the car. The engine bay looks outstanding.
One questions though, why did they take the roof off? |
The Attention to detail is top notch! Great work , we are partial to how killer your engine combo came out, your OCD nature is inline with ours lol :hail: . Great build
|
I don't know how I missed this thread but I just went through the whole thing and words cannot describe how awesome this build is. Every piece, the attention to detail is as the millennial generation says, "its off the chain".
Im glad you will be at SEMA this year as I will get to see it first hand and shake your boys hands. They have done an outstanding job Al. I know you are a super proud father. |
Thanks guys for all the props. Coming from you guys on here means a lot.

Justin design new coil bracket and rear cooler mounts.
