Thanks boss! Car will absolutely ready for first drive in January, but it will probably snow here for the next three months or something freakish like that.
I'm leaving room for "future upgrades" such as new accessory front drive, 18" wheels, etc. I'll be tinkering with this one for a while yet...#winning!

First drive today. Put about twenty miles on it, and no drama at all except my gear carrier that I bought used wasn't happy. I'll investigate this. It's an Eaton posi, that could use a rebuild. Been really busy with life, but managed to finish up the car for this stage of the build. Gonna go see a great alignment guy that I know, and drive it weather permitting. Car drives great, handles well, and seemed to pull hard, although I didn't get on it today. I'm happy!

I'm gonna invest in a nice camera as well, and do some re posting of pictures.

Rear view...my new daily driver silverado I picked up last week. It's a 12' with 48k beside the car. First truck I've had since I bought the 94' that's in the background. I can't believe the features they put in trucks these days!

One more. I went with the Morris Classic 3 point belts. Nice units! Gonna give her a warm bath, clean up whats left of rubbing compound remnants here and there, and put a cover on it. Can't wait for springtime!!!!

Yes it would, but....
The noisy rear end diagnosis, requires new clutch plates for my "used but rebuilt" Eaton posi unit. They are ordered, and should be here Friday. Not a big deal, as I can have it all back together Saturday. I'd still have to shake the car down, and bolt check everything before my first trip like that, so...it's just cutting it a little too close.
I will make one of those for sure. Looking forward to meeting you, and checking out your car also!

Trey, the track is open to the public, and admission is free. Come springtime, every weekend will be a very busy time there. I've been in there Saturdays, and Sundays, and both days were filled with busy garages, lots of race cars both late model, and muscle cars, as well as exotics. Perhaps check their Facebook page, or website, for a particular event. Only downside I'm aware of about the 2 mile track is that it's a counterclockwise design, instead of the usual clockwise road course design. Who cares, right!?!?

Sounds like I'll be heading that way one weekend for sure then!

Update...
I've logged 91.5 miles on the car. It rides great, runs strong, although I haven't really got on it yet, and turns heads. Never goes over 195 degrees, and stays at 180ish while driving. My radio has a really annoying high pitched whine, while running. The Flowmaster mufflers are painfully droney, and actually a little too loud for what I want this car to be, so they are off, and I installed some Borla ProXS units. In all the sound clips I listened to, they sounded great.
Here's what I'm dealing with currently. The 12 bolt that I bought came with a posi unit. The unit looked clean, and had been rebuilt, so I installed it. The rear end was buttoned up, but while moving the car around in the shop, I noticed that it chattered, even when pushing it. I figured it must have been dry for a while before I got it, and it would loosen up after a first drive. Ok, that was rear end build number one.
As the build came towards the end, I purchased some Moser axles, a new cover gasket, and lube, limited slip additive, etc. That was rear end cover back on number two.
On first drive the rear end was scarey loud. I mean, I'm not gonna make it home, loud. After some research, I realized that I should have clearanced the axle ends at the c-clips. My pin went in, but it was tight...turns out it was too tight. The axles needed more clearance than I had, so I pulled them out, cut the needed material, and after several ins and outs to find the necessary measurement with my feeler gauges, I once again put the cover back on with a new gasket and lube. I was sure that my clutches were noisy, due to my c-clips offering too much preload on them. That was rear end cover back on number three.
I go for a drive, and it's quiet. Yay! Wait a minute...after twenty minutes it gets noisy again. Now I'm aggravated. Back in the shop, and I pull the posi out, and inspect the clutches. They look ok. Light wear in the center of the disk, but not bad at all. What gives? So I talk to a friend of mine who does rears for a living. He gives me some advice, and put it back together. I go to run a tap on my ring gear holes to get the hardened red loctite out, and guess what happens? Yep...broke a tap off in the ring gear. Yay...so, I drive down to Summit, and buy a new ring and pinion, lube, LS additive, gasket, etc...put it back together for the fourth time.
My rear end guys advice was to simply drive it. Find a parking lot and do circles and figure 8's left and right. These units need a break in, So last Saturday I went down to a big parking lot, and did just that. I spent 20 minutes solid going in tight circles, and eights, both forward and backwards. No cars around at all, so I loosened it up as much as I could. Left out of there, and so far so good....Almost home and it's noisy as before. I'm over this by now!
Pull it in the shop, totally gut the rear again, and I order a new Detroit TrueTrac. I go to install it this past Thursday, and I realize I've made a mistake. The posi unit was a 4 series. It had a 4.10 gear on it when I got it, so I put a 4 series 3.73 on it...no problem. Weeeeeellllllllll.......I ordered a 3 series Truetrac, in my hurry to just finally get this rear end disaster behind me. So, I've got another 3.73 on order...in a 3 series.... I am not putting a ring gear spacer in my car....And lube, and gasket, etc. This will be rear end cover back on number 5!!!! On the plus side, I can set up a ring and pinion with my eyes closed now! That's hot rodding!!

The high pitched wine is most likely the alternator... or plug wires.... and there are FILTERS you can put in line on the power to the radio that may help. Look in to it. Also - is it well grounded?

I did a google search regarding the radio noise a couple of weeks back, and yep, the filters are out there. I installed a boat load of car stereos back in my teenage years, and never experienced this before. Car is grounded exceptionally well. I'll figure it out...what are you doing on here anyway? You have a move in date with a new home!

Congrats, Scott. Sorry to hear of the rear end trouble though. That's one of those areas where I take my time and am super anal about getting the mesh where I want it to be. So far, I love my TruTrac. I can feel it working with tight turns from stop. It seems to engage well under load too. I only have a couple hundred miles at most on the gears and posi so far. I need to go do a nasty burnout now that I think about it. BRB

I put a TrueTrac in my brothers truck a couple years ago, and he's super happy with it. I just want to drive the clunker without any issues. Hoping this is the last time I ever see the inside of that 12 bolt!

Hey Scott, look at the bright side...at least your rod bolts aren't banging off your windage tray... :D

Been there done that with the rear end attempts, only I was too cheap to step up to the True Trac. I'm sure that move is coming soon enough though.

Good luck ironing out the rest of the kinks, it's hot rodding...there are bound to be teething pains, but it'll be worth all the effort in the end.

Flash I'm sorry, the mufflers are currently on the shelf, and new Borla's are installed....which I haven't heard yet....
I am flowmasters biggest fan. I've bought 5 sets, and an oddball single through the years for cars and trucks I've had...still have a couple of them...The sound is hard to beat in my opinion, at full throttle, but man...I thought my wife's mustangs used to drone. They don't hold a candle to what I just had on this Chevelle. And this car is Hushmatted pretty well! This is my first LS powered build, so I'm learning as I go.
I failed to record a sound clip of the droning. Now that I think about it, if I had of tried to record this, all you would be able to hear was my posi rear end going clickedy clunkedy, pop pop pop...LOL!
