Something about big welds on the back of a Nova never gets old! Car is looking great!

NvrDun71 07-08-2018 08:45 PM

Whose clutch master setup did you end up going with? Love everything about this build btw, turning out great!

Dse plate on the firewall. Just a gm slave and tilton master.

Just read the entire thread. Amazing! And I love the patina restomod look. The Weld Wheels really look great too!

It looks like you have a good little helper there. I like the wheels and the stance.

Did I tell you this is one of my top 10 must see cars when it's finished

Thanks guys! Although I find it hard to believe this old girl is on your top 10! What can I say I am blushing.

shelteredV 07-17-2018 04:34 PM

I'm attempting to go down a similar path as you in that I'm going to try to save the patina on my car as much as possible. I don't think I am going to go as deep as you have, but we shall see. Totally digging the outcome though, it's very cool. Great job!

Yep, it's honestly one of my top 10. I have fallen in love with Survivor builds and the fact that they are driven and not just looked at.

Don't get me wrong I still love the crazy high end builds but some of the Survivor builds are getting the same attention to detail that they are getting.

kevin_l 07-29-2018 07:34 PM

Man it's been a long week! My brother and I took a full week of vacation and put in 5 12-14 hr days working on the old car. I was hoping to have made more progress however we have never done anything like this before. He is a mechanic by trade and knows cars in and out but blending 4 or 5 electrical systems took some homework and planning.

Last week I sprayed the trunk pan and underside of the fenders in upol raptor and had the local glass guys install the rear window.
For the heat and a/c we used Eaton ez clip hoses and fittings and a II Much fab airport bulkhead to get through the firewall.

At the start of the week there wasnt a single wire in the car. Now the dash wiring is pretty much done other than a few loose ends. The Dakota digital gauges and interface is complete. The dual fans and controller just needs a power wire ran to be complete, the vintage air is all set and the dse wiper is setup as well.

Since the clutch plate forces you to relocate the electrical bulkhead from under the hood to under the fender I upgraded to a sealed weather pack.

I'll post the random pictures I shot from the week.

Very neat work Kevin, progress never seems to go very fast on this type of work but what your doing looks fantastic:thumbsup:

waynieZ 07-30-2018 07:13 PM

I agree with Jeff, it looks nice, neat and well thought out. I laid all my wiring out but haven't jumped in whole heartedly yet. :underchair: great job.

Thank you, yeah I had higher hopes for progress but overall I am very happy with the work we completed. Like I said, this was our first time on wiring a complete car. Lucky we have access to forums like this one to help along the way!

Thank you, We really tried hard to make wise decisions when it came to placement and routing. There are a few items that"won't be fun" to service down the road but when you're goal is hiding wiring and components some times that can't be avoided.

kevin_l 11-15-2018 12:51 PM

Been a while since I posted. The car is mostly complete and has been for a few months. But a few miles on the car but I've been having some gear whine issues. So I pulled the center section and didn't see anything too obvious. I had two local shops check it out and they too didn't find any smoking guns but did some fine adjustments on the backlash and preload. After I reinstalled it I still have the whine on deceleration. So as of right now I am just waiting to have the interior finished next month, then once it warms up I'll figure something out with the gear whine.

On with the pictures so far...

Looks great, Kevin! My first car was a 66' Chevy II and I traded it and $1500 for the 68 Camaro I have now. One day I'll have another one but until then, I'm living vicariously thru your build. When you can, I'd love to see more pics of your carpet and interior. :popcorn2:

Flash68 12-11-2018 04:36 PM

Looks sweet. And starting to resemble a usable car! :D

Thank You Marty, I really appreciate you always taking time to reply on my updates. You'll get the finished pictures as soon as I do! We'll have to meet up some time so you can check it out!

Haha, Thanks I am flattered although there are MANY nicer chevy IIs than mine, I'm glad you like it!

Thank you, I was blown away how "finished" carpet makes it look. They're doing my headliner too, and once I decide on the rear seat they will also take care of that. After seeing their work I'm debating on having the front seats redone but that would be down the road.

I'll make you a deal you keep posting pictures and I will continue to come back and reply and yes at Some point we are going to have to meet up as I would love to see the car in person.

kevin_l 12-18-2018 12:32 PM

Picked the car up last night. Still need to have them do the rear seat but here's some crummy cell phone pictures in the meantime. They did a very good job on the carpet and headliner. Wish I'd have known about these guys when I had my recaros done! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...73d6a017a4.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0015491b6c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a877419c18.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6737a58cf2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2100c5827c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...70339a63c2.jpg
