The elevations on this track are just so dang much fun..... I love hustling down the front straight and turning up that hill into T2 and then down into the dip at T3 and back up and out of T3A.... then hustling down out of T7 and into the twists on the back.
Hope the folks that haven't had a chance - get one. If you do - don't pass it up. It's awesome. |
Not to mention the track setting and the views. Hard to explain but one of those tracks you don't want to drive home from. Don't know how many times I've pondered renting one of the shops out to live in.

Not if your bike was a two speed automatic. |
I'll shift once as I pass you GW.. BTW I remember a place that had a bunch of old Navy ships parked (in the water) to be scraped..Is it still there and is it near the track?? It was a hell of a site to see

Probably saw them when going over the bridge on I-680 ---- there's a mothball fleet there in Suisun Bay. |

Thanks for the name GW and Sieg. Looks like they emptied that place out.

The Navy did a lot of damage to the waters in that area not to mention the surrounding land on Mare Island where they were based. Lennar Homes now owns a huge piece of the area and have put up a few housing developments there. Often during excavations for infrastructure we come across silver dirt buried below the surface. The silver dirt is lead paint that was sand blasted from the ships hulls. I've been told that there is a lot of ammunition from the war ships that was dumped into the waters there. Story has it that war ships would be sent out on training missions and if they came back to Mare Island with any ammo left on board they would lose funding to buy more ammo so they started dumping the ammo before docking. |
Thanks for the insight Tracky

"Chasing the car in front of you into a BRAKING ZONE at 130mph is quite intoxicating. It is expensive, and a poor guy with some skill will find out he can't beat a rich guy with some talent"
Here Jerry -- I fixed it for you.... so now Gaetano can use it too.... |

Enjoying all your pics Sieg.
This one stood out for me at least...it's one of the best shots of the 33Speed I've seen so far. Quote:

I have to say -- I've gotten more good laughs out of this thread. And I thank you all for that!
Thanks Sieg! The '33 Brizio built RideTech wear'n' hot rod is really a sweet little ride... Think I'll head home from the shed and have Gwen take me for a ride around town. |

Thanks, Greg. Sorry to hear about your mechanicals, but I'm sure you'll find some very shiny solutions. I think finding out more about your Mustang was the reason I initially joined this site. If you like, I will attest to the fact that you spent a lot of time in front of a certain orange Camaro, and nobody could tell how hard you were breathing (or circulating refrigerated water across your chest).
Depending on how much the next month of my life thrashes me, I may just show up at Thunderhill in October, maybe even without any new body damage... Quote:

I don't do much shiny stuff -- but I do want reliability!!! I'm sick and tired of a motor that has constant issues. At least this time it happened late Sunday instead of like the last time I ran Sonoma, and it was on the first lap after a fresh rebuild! UGH. It's right after that last year that I bought the Lotus for a back up car and that worked out real well this time around. Sieg was out and I was in! LOL
The Cool Shirt was the best thing an old fat fart like me ever bought.... it was such an amazing difference in how I felt at the end of the day!! The driver suit I have to wear is too hot for the summer driving -- and I let Sieg wear the cooler summer single layer... which would be far more comfortable. I'm just too nice. LOL Quote:

http://youtu.be/_20Hp85Cm0AHere is my little footage... Car was handling like crap, but I had fun.
I posted in the introduction section but Ill type it out here again... Long story short my shocks ended up getting lost in shipping. I was getting them revalved. So I was about to call it quits because this is a rear coilover shock. (and it is friday night). Well I ended up stealing the penske coil over shock I was using in the front (still regular coil spring though, not using as a coil over). Had to redo the shock mounts friday night, rig up some blown 40 year old koni's for the front but we made it there. Front end was all over the place but it was great to drive the car again. Then I got home and cut the front end off  |

Welcome to Lat-G. Glad that isn't your orange car, after seeing the carnage under yellow I had to inspect in person. Did you talk to the driver? Did he spin in his own fluid per the "official" story? One of our pit mates said his car got crossed up because of something on the track. |
