We also spent some time working on the second of Matts new offering for us:

He had these tow hooks laser cut for us. We'll wind up with two up front, below the front valance, and one in the back. The rear one is very nearly finished and we'll be going on the fronts tomorrow.

I also wanted to take a minute to thank John at Speartech who built a pair of extension harnesses for our relocated coil brackets. He turned them around in no time flat and they fit perfectly. Great customer service is always appreciated - thanks.

What a kick ass car!! A ton of innovative ideas and parts I keep checking out. Attention to detail is awesome. For starters - that core support IMO just does it. Look forward to seeing to come togther.

Thanks guys,
Obviously this is a really cool part of the build as everything comes back together and it starts to look and feel like a car again. This week has been a bit of a roller coaster though... even though the car has been more or less completely mocked up twice so far, we had a bunch of little stuff bite us at the begining of the week; mostly basic reproduction parts that don't fit or work right (what a shock). Dumb little things like the (reproduction) push buttons for the (original and rechromed) door handles that aren't cooperating or the feeling that you get when you open your box of door locks and find the trim rings on each and every one of them damaged in some special way. Fortunately (knock on wood) I think that we are back on track again with everything coming together nicely. Quote:
Thanks again, James |
Like everyone else is saying, this is one badass car. I love the attention to detail in both form & function. Can't wait to see the final assembled pics.
 :hail:  |

I thought I would post a quick update before heading to La Jolla for the week so here is where we are today...
http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics...5%20no%201.JPG The exhaust is in, the Mark Williams aluminum driveshaft has arrived, the brakes are bled and the power windows and glass is being aligned. Most importantly for '67 fans... the vent windows are in! http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics...5%20no%202.JPG We wanted to see the car on the groung one last time before finishing off some other minor details so here it sits. The lower valance still need polishing and so does the roof but I couldn't resist shooting a couple of pics. http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics...5%20no%203.JPG The hood is just set in place - no hinges and no latch - and it still needs to be sanded and polished but it's there. http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics...5%20no%204.JPG |
We had the entire exhaust system ceramic coated after grinding all of the welds flush (there is something I will never do again). We have the tips trimmed properly and the fit is great...

car looks amazing - I dig the exhaust treatment... little cool things like that really make a car IMO and those worked out very cleanly.

man james !!!!! YOU DA MAN! lol
the tips sit in ther PERFECT... |
James, car looks freaking badass!
So when can we see a picture of yours and Penny side by side? :hail: |

On a serious note.. I must say that this car is absolutly bad ass.. I just oozes attitude. And while it has a simular vibe as Penny the excution and attention to detail is on a whole other level.
We have a full page on it in the new Camaro Performers and I can't wait until it's done to do more. BTW.. you will LOVE those tires... |
Absolutely killer build....how did I miss this one?:unibrow:

It'll be good to see it all together in Nov., it's been quite a journey from where it was this time last year... a couple of scotch's, a cigar and realizing it was only four o'clock in the morning later... and now it this close.
Good times. |

updates?

Well we are working hard on getting the car together and are making more and more headway every day.
On Monday we were fortunate enough to borrow some awesome new scales from the guys at Tunerworks in Calgary, AB. We used the wireless Longacre scales to corner weight the car for a baseline to get the Penske shocks blueprinted next week: http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics.../Sept%2015.JPG |
Once we were done with the scales, we sent the car to the upholstry shop to get the carpet, headliner, and trunk finished up while we wait for the rest of the interior to come together. He finished up with the car this morning and did a nice, clean job.
The trunk was simple and efficient, I wanted to maintain a (modern) factory like finish and think that it hit the mark: http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics.../Trunk%201.JPG http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics.../Trunk%202.JPG http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics.../Trunk%203.JPG http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics.../Trunk%204.JPG |
The headliner is obviously a little more difficult to show but here it is. We started with a seriously flawed piece from TopShop that needed to be extensively reworked. Although the entire process was more hassle than we had hoped, the finished product came out well.
http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics.../Headliner.JPG |
With the first round of interior work done it was back in the shop and back up in the air to continue the assembly. Lots of small stuff going on all the same time but our focus for the weekend will be on the wiring and getting the car ready to fire next week.

Littlefuse and I-Squared have provided one of their increadible new ISIS power distribution/management systems for the car. The kit is increadibly complete and represents the absolute state of the art for wiring and control. I will be posting the step by step install of the system on the forums and with more detail on our wbsite as the installation goes forward over the next week. For now here are a couple of sneak peaks at the ISIS kit:
http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics...8/ISIS%201.JPG The heart of the ISIS System is the Mastercell which acts as a control hub for all of the downstream functions in the car. The programmablity of the Mastercell gives the entire system increadible power as it allows for multiple switches to control individual loads (like electric fans) and car incorporate soft starts for loads like Halogen or projector lights. http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics...8/ISIS%202.JPG A single Mastercell can control up to five "Powercell" modules which is the muscle behind the Mastercell brain. CAN bus technology connects the Powercells to the Mastercell and reduces both the quantity of wiring required as well as the time needed for the installation. http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics...8/ISIS%203.JPG |
Incredible :hail: :hail:

Wow!
Wow!......

We did a little bit of a cleanup in the engine compartment yesterday, replacing the factory fuel rails with a pair of billet rails. Like most of their parts, they came anodized bright red which was a little too bright for my taste so we had the rails sent to Pacific Coast Anodizing in Fresno, CA to be stripped and recoated in Black Hardcoat. Rodger from Ironworks was kind enough to check on them while they were there (or something like that) and they came out great...
http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics...0rails%202.JPG in addition to tidying things up a bit, they will alllow us to ... try some different intake combinations ... not that I would be tempted to do something like that... http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics...0rails%201.JPG |
Chris also got done polishing the hood. The carbon fiber proved to be really challenging to get to paint quality but, as with everything else on the car, Chris put in an awesome effort and got it as smooth and straight as the rest of the car...
Edit - pics deleted The underside will get one more coat of clear - most likely a semigloss - on the natural carbon tomorrow. Edit/update - the hood will just not cooperate and, unfortunately, will not make it onto the finished product... darn |
Check on them???? you mean add my anticorrosive additive to your fuel rails. You just picked up 5 HP with my additive buddy...... NO CHARGE
Seriously this car is just out of control, I cannot wait to see it in person. It just gets better and better. I may have to build one for my self with some left over parts I have laying around. HHHHMMMM We missed you 1 week ago at the customer hang out day we had, it was fun. Next time you come to Cali swing by. |
