Is the engine in the stock location or is it setback? Also what engine mounts are you using?

Thanks.

We used the Holley mounts. It is in the “stockish” location. Not as far back as some of the other cars. A little farther forward to make it easier for wiring and bellhousing bolts.

Because I know the car will see track use we added a simple roll hoop. It is for a shoulder belt system for street use and a cross bar for 6 point belts for track use.

More photos to come soon.

"It is for a shoulder belt system for street use and a cross bar for 6 point belts for track use."

So you are going to run 2 different belt systems based on use... Will both be installed at the same time OR do you plan to change over from street to track when needed?

Mark, Do you have a picture of how you mount the Recaro seat tracks?

TechNova 02-25-2024 06:37 PM

Painting the small parts is one of my favorite tasks.

That is the plan to have a street 3 point belt set up and a 6 point for the track. We have not designed it yet.

If it is a hassle I’ll go back to what I have always used. A 6 point set up and just wear the lap belt on the street.

I'm interested in seeing what you come up with. I've had my 69 for over 34 years and 32 were driving on the street with stock belts. Started to autocross 2 years ago and stock belts aren't enough. I still spend a lot of time on the street driving to local cruise-ins.

Have you tried the Morris Classic 3 point belts? I have it. A very nice upgrade to the stock lap belts.

I have them in my car too! LOVE the 3 point belts and have them mounted in the stock locations.

For Hobb's Camaro it should be fairly easy to mount the reel to the floor and shoulder belt mount to top corner of the roll bar.

Are those rear shelf speaker inserts purchased or fabricated custom?

HEEP 03-04-2024 07:25 PM

Mark, can you tell me what coils are being used here? Also, wondering if I could copy this design of the coils in the SBC distributor location. Love this idea.

Thanks,

Bill

They are just LS3 style coils.

All custom fabrication. They are nice because it really stiffens up the package tray. Nice rattle free speaker set up.

We had a plastic elbow break under dash in the heater lines on a past project. We have move to stainless steel. I bit overkill but I would be shocked if it failed.

All the BS because I wanted to keep the BBC heater line location out of the heater core box.

This thing is so good! Question: will you be using a GM ecu tuned for speed density or something like a Holley to control this thing? I'm currently putting together a retro look LS and was curious.

We are using Holley. It seems sorted and fairly straightforward.

Yes, Matt built a nice spray booth in his shop. Very good for small stuff and the bottoms of cars.

This is an awesome build !!! All of the previous cars are stellar, yet this one has the classic style to go along with the function. Great job !!!

jason 04-16-2024 09:27 AM

Hey Mark , question regarding headers . Have you in previous builds used the Detroit speed headers , matched to their subframe ? If so , what’s your opinion on fit and quality . If not, do you have a go to for a specific one ?

I have not used them but I have seen them on other cars at Sled Alley. They fit great and look very nice.
