I don't want to take over this thread with a bunch of technical talk, but am very interested in continuing the conversation....I'll start, or find another cooling thread somewhere else later  |
Mark, Do you have any updates for us? After seeing Mayhem yesterday at Autorama you are going to be hard pressed to raise the bar again.
|
Awesome thread ! I need my Jaw wired shut now...
|
Any updates Mark?
|
I just combed through the whole thread. I think it is great that Mark has offered so many of his thoughts and pulled back the curtain behind his builds by answering so many questions. He didn't answer one question though, so I will ask it again. Any plans to do a second gen build at some point????

Things have been going very slow on my new Camaro. We are making some progress now and should have some updates this week. Mark |
Mark i noticed you have a tab welded on the clutch petal.. Do you have any measurements you can share...? I just installed the DSE bracket and wanted to take care of the petal while I had it all out...:flag2:

http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps74927ca3.jpg So you use the stock c6 brake booster and master? How would this work with the z06 brakes without abs? If you could give us some more info on this. So you used the dse bracket but where did you get your measurements and what are all the part numbers and some feedback. what peddles are these and what would you do to eliminate the sensor on the side of the reservoir? |
ABS is a separate module so the MC and booster combination would work just fine like it does in a Z06 when ABS isn't activated.

A quick update. We had my new Camaro together as a roller for my car party.
The dry sump placement in the cowl. Check out the headers they are from Ultimate Headers they are shorty and fit great. http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/q...pscb31133a.jpg The radiator from Dewitt with the SRX fan, oil cooler, transmission cooler and power steering cooler. The core is 24" X 23" so it's fairly big. http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps6874deb8.jpg http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps87e5b259.jpg New throttle body inlet before we weld it up and metal finish it. http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/q...psbe3aadcf.jpg Anvil front clip and my hood. http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps89c3637d.jpg http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps04af887e.jpg http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps116320c8.jpg http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps74375196.jpg |
Coming togather nicely Mark.

Ordinarily I'm not a fan of carbon fiber -- but that looks bad ass! Get I've been a bit jaded with all the phony versions on the big Honda wings.... LOL
Needless to say --- stellar work as usual Mark. |

Love the stance and the color. Reminds me of the Red Witch minus the weight. Really looking forward to seeing this one run.

Every time I seem to wander into Marks thread's.. Makes me realize, I NEED A BETTER JOB!
Great stuff I want that weave... |
So what is that other project car in the garage?
|
I love the carbon parts. Its coming together nice.
|
Here is some close up photos of the LS1 engine mounts for Camaro XV. Matt at Sled Alley does great work on those welds. I don't think these photos been posted. http://67rscamaro.smugmug.com/2013Mo...100_2722-L.jpg http://67rscamaro.smugmug.com/2013Mo...100_2724-L.jpg http://67rscamaro.smugmug.com/2013Mo...100_2725-L.jpg Jeff |
The bar just keeps getting higher. SMDH
|
Mark I think the car looks sick, that stance and front clip are awesome!
Why the shorty headers what was the reason for those? Wont you leave some hp on the table?? |

In all of our dyno testing these blower motors are fairly insensitive to back pressure. In fact Mayhem made 877 HP through the stock LS9 exhaust manifolds. These "shorty" headers let me use the 2002 engine mounts and frees up a ton of space and are lighter. Less mass up front. We will A-B these headers on a dyno test soon at Thomson's, but Katech dynoed them and did not loos much on a N/A engine. I really like them they look like nice parts. Mark |
Mark looks great, so is the plan to still be at Optima this year?? Also are you leaving the carbon front unpainted or will it get painted??

We also moved the ABS rearward to clean up packaging and move mass back.
http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/q...psd1e268b1.jpg I also used the Too Much Fabrication weld in mounting bosses to mount it (see top mounting boss). They work great. I have a bag of these weld on bosses and plan to use a lot on this build. Mark |

I can't make Optima this year with this car. For me to get this car ready for Optima would be a huge effort :G-Dub: I am aiming to have this car done for 2014 unless I win the lottery..... Mark |

Hey Mark,
If Charlie won't let you use one of your previous works of art this year you are welcome to use Lou's Change!!! hehe It's LSA powered and it doesn't have ABS brakes... You could show the world it's your driving skills more than the car that have made you so successful!!! I wish. |
I would imagine having such a gnarly blower on there that the engine would be mostly insensitive to primary length, as you're going to have torque all over the place. The physical gas gas flow shouldn't be affected by mid shorty vs. long tube headers, and the ground clearance is a huge bonus.
Great build Mark! |

Wow, 315s on the front. I've been thinking about upgrading to the Anvil front clip, more for the front tire even than the weight savings. The DSE suspension is overall a pretty balanced track package for me, but especially in long sweeping turns I think more front grip would be useful. Do the 18 inch wheels impact your brake choice? I think you mentioned carbon ceramic brakes somewhere on the thread, but I've heard the ZR-1 brakes won't clear an 18" wheel? |
Hi Mark,
Why do you need shorties to run the 2002 motor mounts vs aftermarket urethane ones? Shouldn't the urethane mounts just be a direct replacement for the OEM ones? |
Quote:
You can get an 18 wheel over a Corvette ZR-1 brakes but you need to get the correct wheel. Mark |

Awesome work and engineering. And Thanks for sharing your ideas. Mark. Maybe you can get ideas about the paint to the XV from this video Inside Koenigsegg when Christian explain the paint job on their carbon cars. Or search Agera Hundra. It Looks beautiful with its golden stripes.
