You won't need that to beat Todd's '77 Corvette. |

All the street car jokes aside around here, safety is a big concern and priority for me and if I am usually on the fence with something, within reason, the safer/stronger path gets chosen. Quote:

Did I miss an update here...somewhere?

Good for you Dave! I'm relatively "new" to the whole road race thing - having done my first Bondurant school 10 years ago... but buying the car from Charley was what put me in the drivers seat. I'm telling ya - you guys have no idea how fast you can get going on some of these tracks... and you get used to it real quick. Suddenly it really doesn't feel so fast. But pounding down the front straight at Thunderhill -- you're taking turn one at a good 90 mph maybe? I don't know - I'm afraid to look... but if you hit some oil - or coolant - or break a suspension part... DUDE... YOU ARE WADDING THE CAR UP BIG TIME. I'd prefer to be able to tell stories about it sitting around the campfire. Safety makes it fun. Otherwise you might as well be playing Russian roulette. |
I totally agree, my Mustang hit close to 160 on the back straight at VIR, all I could think about was lug nuts and wheel bearings. The car was lifting so bad, felt like the front tires weren't on the ground. 160mph right into a hairpin(crazy). After 3 sessions it started to feel normal. VIR kind of made the other tracks seem less dangerous, and I think that is when you get in trouble. 100mph will hurt as easy as 160mph.

Started an 'After New Years resolution'...no more posting about the lack of updates in peoples threads.
I should let SoCal Ron, Rob and Jerdog know I won't hassle them for updates either. :D |

It's amazing that it took me 11 pages just to find a pic of the steering column…
:waveflag: if you can shoot me a note on where you found the the column and cv reservoirs... |

Got it - thanks!
I was going to (and still may) use a Woodward column in the '69 but got sidetracked talking to rally guys about EPAS setups... Oh... Get the car done already, |

Looking at Dave's car compared to the last time I saw it I was in awe. The stance, parts, effort and money that has gone into this thing is incredible. It's raw, well thought out and just hardcore-nasty-cool. Of course, Dave'll never be able to keep the tires connected to pavement long enough to make a dent in his lap times but that just can't detract from how cool this car is, or how many points he'll lose at street car events  I'll let Dave tell the rest of the story but here's a pic of Dave trying to fit into his racecar seat. He's trying to exhale and talk at the same time (typical), doing neither well: http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps30727af9.jpg  |

Brett, as always, the work on Dave's Camaro is wasted on Dave:lol: but amazing. The car really is sinister. Quote:

Wow Dave, are you feeling ok?
Your going to need to drive that thing with ear plugs in. Did you buy a racing suit with the cooling option. I think it's going to get hot in there. |

....but what if the sound check station is on drivers left? |
From one guy who has just one exhaust tip exiting behind my ear to another, "what did you say, I didn't catch that, huh" get used to it. You notice on my new build, the exhaust goes out the back, and yours has bullet mufflers. Hearing isn't near as important as people think.
Do love the direction the car is going, and the work Fab53 is doing looks phenomenal. Can't wait to see how that SB2 works out. |
