Wow Dave, are you feeling ok?
Your going to need to drive that thing with ear plugs in.
Did you buy a racing suit with the cooling option. I think it's going to get hot in there.

I feel great. What?

We have some ideas to keep heat and sound down. It will have a second custom muffler option for those "quiet" tracks like Thunderhill and Sonoma. Laguna Seca need not apply.

....but what if the sound check station is on drivers left?

Drive in reverse? :underchair:

Seriously though, when/where is the last place around here that moved the sound check to the drivers side that you know of? (serious question)

Do love the direction the car is going, and the work Fab53 is doing looks phenomenal. Can't wait to see how that SB2 works out.

Bullet mufflers are an upgrade for me. My boom tube before had no muffler (those chambers in there don't really count IMO) exiting in the same area. It wasn't 3.5" duals and it wasn't an SB2 but still. It was loud yeah but at RTTC and some street cruising I thought it was acceptable. :headspin:

Brett is really killing it there and I think the project is quite mutually enjoyable for us.

So I was excited to test fit my brand new Butler full containment seat I scored a deal on from a dirt late model racer. These seats are phenomenal in their quality and design and made a Kirkey road race seat look like a piece of aluminum foil. It fit me in the waist/hips but it all went downhill from there. Man a lot of those drivers are skinny little suckers. This seat was made for Brett's 14 year old son.... at 120 lbs. :disgusted:

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps15bb61bb.jpg

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...psf9645337.jpg

So I will probably resell it and either get a custom fit one or a Kirkey for street/autocross and then a stronger one for road course. Gotta do some more thinking on that....

Hips are fine. It's the ribcage/lat area that is the issue.

Putting a balance tube right after the mufflers will quiet it down a bit too.

Dave, Gaetano is right, Having it out at Thunderhill will be great, but I want to know if there is going to be enough space for you to fit Jeffrey and I in BMF so we can go cruising down Las Vegas Boulevard before heading over to the real hidden gem of the city, North Las Vegas. then you can prove to everyone it is a real street car!

Of course there will be. Who wouldn't want to sit a couple inches next to the 300 degree oil, a battery and a muffler or 3?

I thought street car just meant it had to have license plates. :headscratch: I better go back and read those rules....

This thing might weigh more than Rob's boat when it's done.....

Bummer about the seat.

Dave, I have some pics somewhere with a guy that had a '70 Mercury Cyclone that was putting out 1000 hp with the exhaust running through the car..........I think I was able to save them from one of my lap tops that crashed. Need to dig those up.......ran with him at Sonoma. I have faint memories of that thing running up on me like a freight train going into turn 11 at Sonoma. BAD ASS!!

Look at the upper control arm spread in the one pic, the mount would be inside the firewall on most of our cars.lol I talked back and forth with him over at corner carvers before I stopped going over there, really nice guy. Told me how he stretched and widened the body, hard to get a sense of how big that car really is.

That thing is so bad ass. I see it runs at the Big Bore Bash. In that vid it pulls pretty far out ahead of Big Red. :disgusted:

I've wanted to run at that event (BBB) but don't know what the requirements are. Waiting to hear back from them. It's Nov 1-2 this year. Would be fun.

And here I was thinking you were good at math.... :bitchslap:

57hemicuda 03-05-2014 05:12 AM

I know the tracks are putting DB limits on cars. I'm assuming they are putting DB meters somewhere on the track to measure this. I know at Jersey Motorsport Park, one of the track officials said something about my Mustang. Was wondering if we couldn't try something stupid like Super Traps as a secondary Muffler that we could dial back when we need to, and open up when we don't. Looks like you would have enough room, I think mine could fit them also.

Damn it, I want to run Laguna!! And if I'm going to Cali., I want Dave, Greg, Rob, Gaetano, etc.etc. there too.

Around here yeah Laguna is bad, but the others are all decent IMO. Thunderhill and Sonoma are 100+ and if Buttonwillow and Willow Springs actually test for sound I am not aware of it. There were no sound meters at Streets of Willow or Big Willow when I ran there 2 years ago.

We'll have to just hope for a 105db day that is accessible to mere mortals in the future Ron..... then you bring it on out!

There is nothing said about DB's at BW and when I was at Willow Springs last year, they didn't check at all. That same day the Big Bash race was on the big track @ WS and those cars are loud...
