I just got the wing and not the mount...but you get the idea. 71 inches wide and 12 deep. This is the wing on the car it came off of when they allowed them in American Iron series.

Payton,

Your timing was perfect. Usually it's a hotbed of activity in here.

:tiptoe:

gerno 03-21-2014 08:23 AM

So when are you getting the window nets and where are you mounting the escape hatch and flaps on this "street car"

But seriously, if your going with that huge wing are you also adding a belly pan and rear defuser?

Payton King 03-21-2014 09:02 AM

Yep, lots of aero on my car. Cannot speak for Dave. Our cars are so similar that I thought about cutting off the Camaro body and putting a 70 Cuda on my frame just so we could be different, but by the time my car is finished the pro-touring fad should just about be over and it really will not make any difference.

Chad, I have been compensating all of my adult life. I am about an inch away from driving a monster truck. LOL

That's funny as hell Payton!

Sometimes I look out the big windshield on the Freightliner and think... well? WTF am I doing?!?!?

LOL

That wing is killer. And another "great deal" we all love to find when searching endlessly and aimlessly. :computer:

I'll run Jake's for now since I have it and like it. But now you've def got me coming down with the aforementioned case of wing envy. :twak:

Speaking of compensating.... man look at Rob. The guy is 6 foot 8, has a Torino 20 feet long and 4500 pounds and throws a 500 inch motor in it. Wow. Talk about The Master Compensator.

I'd comment but I'm way too busy actually BEING at a race track....

Dave, you fished me in with this thread! Glad I pm'd you on the bullet!

Very cool to see the evolution of this car throughout this thread. The most recent pics remind me a bit of Mike Davis's '70 Mustang GT1 car.

Thanks man!

Payton's further along in his build than we thought.

Nice to see you give back to the hobby that has cost you so much. ;)

:thankyou:

57hemicuda 03-22-2014 07:49 AM

All this fluffer talk, and pictures of wieners, I feel like I'm back in the text train. Payton has been trying to get me to put a wing on my Mustang forever, always thought if I did, I would then be expected to be fast.LOL

Waiting to see some Camaro build pics.

GOOD MORNING! :hello:

Track Junky 03-22-2014 09:37 AM

Could be my own personal opinion here but I think at 800 hp down force is going to be a necessity. If It were me Dave I would put a wing on that car. First thing that comes to mind for me is coming into a corner at high speed, letting up on the throttle will lighten the rear of the car up. In this case the wing will help keep the rear of the car down and also help as you throttle through. Just my opinion.

Leroy, glad to see you made it over here. Welcome!

And thanks for sifting through the CRAP to see find what little goodness lies beneath. :headspin:

That Mustang is one of the cars that serves as great inspiration. I have a few pics of it saved in a folder.

Hope you stick around here.

Yeah I agree and feel it will happen but Brett and I agreed to keep the current to-do list as is and not add any more (time and $) to it for now. That can and likely will come later.

Since this thread has its own sort of (dis) rail. Can we see pics of the 'Stang?

Heeeyy,:underchair: how do we know they are pedals from this Camaro?? You could have gotten them off the internet. From now on we need the car at least in the back ground, and maybe a newspaper with the current date on it in the picture. LOL

Fair question I suppose. This will have to suffice for now. :popcorn2:

Now that is a cool picture, especially with that bad a$$ SB2 valve cover hanging out there. Looks like it is getting closer, those pull masters I think will be the stuff. All ball busting aside, looks like most of the major stuff is covered, how far out do you think you are?

sik68 03-24-2014 10:08 AM

It's been a few weeks, but I still get goosebumps over the exhaust layout. What a beast!

Yeah that pic got me a little excited too. Things starting to come together. No more big items left to buy. Just making all the crap I have already work.

It may look UNpossible to many but we are shooting for a shakedown in May. And an engine fire up in the car here probably next month. We shall see. As I've gotten to know Brett more and more he likes and seems to thrive with self-imposed deadlines and goals. :popcorn2:

looking good flash

57hemicuda 03-27-2014 02:55 AM

Damn those engines take up a lot of real-estate, almost looks like a big block. I guess its those heads and that massive intake, that must be the reason they make such big power. There truly is nothing cooler then tubing on a car build, love it.

Agreed. The amount of thought and energy put into this build by the owner and fabricator has this car evolving into something pretty special.
