If there's one thing I've learned since I started doing this, it's knowing that whenever you create something non-mainstream you open yourself up to brutal critiques, especially with the anonymity of internet forums. The day I give half a second's thought as to what some critics say is the day I drop my pencil and start a new career. It's a losing battle at that point.

My role in any project I design is innovating and solving problems that relate to the client's needs and budget. It looks to me like Eric Brockmeyer (I haven't seen the rendering yet) and Rodger have collaborated to do exactly that on this car. Is this car for everyone? No, it's for their client.

I'm not defending the design. I'm just emphasizing the designer, builder and owner relationship.

Ben, Well said! Especially the part about anonymity...people will say things to others on line that they would never say to them in person. Can you imagine walking up to someone you have never met and saying; "I hate your car" and then proceed to pick it apart? Anyone who would do that has issues...size issues..if you know what I mean. This build is great in many ways...but maybe the greatest is, that there are people out there with loot that will build hotrods with there money for the rest of us to talk about and enjoy without having to pay for them. Personally, I think this car is very cool...and remember, varity is the spice of life.

Ben:

I was curious to see if you saw the remark on my rendering being a P.O.S.:D

I have NEVER really followed the mainstream, and I am anxious to see if my Rendering gets flamed.

If it does, Cool, if it Doesn't, Cool. I will enjoy the dialog either way.

I personally would love honest feedback.

What the hell are we here for if we can't visit with each other honestly.

I know what my goals are with the car.

As long as I achieve those goals, I'm good to go.

I love knowing people are Jealous that I beat them to the idea. :unibrow: ;) :D

To All:

I think the car is fresh.

1) I had to make a double take whether the car was a 67 going to a 2010 or the other way around

2) It reminds me in a way of one of the cars you see in a futuristic movie. You know what car it started out to be, but it was someones interpetation of a futuristic, "Dark", Camaro

3) It will be a car that will always grab people eyes at a car rally. "Either you love it, or you hate it"

4) This is to be expected in this hobby. I used to follow the traditional, "Hot Rods". I have seen 5000 versions of a 49-51 Merc., some I like, some I don't, the simple fact is, as things move forward the variations will continue to grow.

5) Embrace the difference, it's not your money. I bet if you look closely you could find something you could at least admire about it, at the very least the dedication someone had putting it together.

6) Many things we love now were strange when they came out. Sometimes they were very strange!

7) Most of the things people do to their cars can be reversed thanks to the numerous parts that are available.

8) Many of these cars we all love might otherwise be in a cube or melted down, if someone wouldn't fish them out of the hell hole they were in.

9) I would imagine that many of the cars that are perfectly accepted by many of us would make the purest of car collectors wretch.

10) This Car IS the definition of the word:

Avant-garde (French pronunciation: [avɑ̃ɡaʁd]) means "advance guard" or "vanguard".[1] The adjective form is used in English, to refer to people or works that are experimental or innovative, particularly with respect to art, culture, and politics.
Avant-garde represents a pushing of the boundaries of what is accepted as the norm or the status quo, primarily in the cultural realm.

Anyway, my .02$ worth.

When I get my rendering finished and put up, it might be seen as a P.O.S.

Who knows, what does it matter?

Ty O'Neal

Well put,To move forward someone has to be first.Get use to it.The first gen Camaro is the next body to get cut up and reshaped. There the 32 ford of the future.

The sheetmetal work in itself is amazing.

Thanks Nick and the staff at Camaro Performers for the honor of being included in the April issue. The Scar and the Grumpy tribute articles were done extremely well. We were really impressed with Josh's pictures of the Grumpy tribute. Thank you very much for letting us be part of your magazine.

Karen, Is the magazine out on the news stands now? If so, will you be posting the renderings soon? K

We're honored to have such awesome machines grace the pages of our magazine. Josh did a fantastic job on the photo shoot, as always.
I'm really looking forward to seeing Scar once it's finished.
See you at Columbus Goodguys...

I must say that the Grumpy Jenkins tribute car is one of my favorite custom builds that I have seen. I have saved absolutely every picture that I come across. I would love to see some finished interior pics if you have any. The thing I like most about the build is that it accentuates the original character of the camaro. Keep up the great work.

I 2nd this, more pics or a link anyone?

Couldnt have put it any better..I think it really is a great design from a designer stand point...We always see the boring mundane stuff so something new and fresh is always breath taking...
