The paint looks great.

paint...

Thanks to all for the compliments. Its amazing what passion will drive you to do.
One of the things that I have been able to figure out is that I need to be spraying the white sealer over the gray primer before spraying the velocity yellow. The yellow does not cover real well. So far being able to spray the bottom and then the firewall has sharpened up my skills, after twenty four years they have gotten a little rusty, but it's coming back.
I went ahead and cut and buffed the firewall as a good spot for the practice for the rest of the car.

Now moving back to the interior work...

Here are my latest updates. I moved back to the interior I chose to go with the LizardSkin Sound Control & LizardSkin Ceramic Insulation in the dash, firewall, floor and quarters and plan on spraying UPOL liner in the trunk.

I don't understand.... are you using the UPOL instead of sound deadener??

Looks fantastic by the way! And nice prep work (taping and paper etc) too!

sleepertime 07-13-2014 10:13 PM

Thanks for noticing the effort...

The places where I am spraying the UPOL liner are the trunk floor and the rear outer tub and the front fender well areas for durability reasons.

The documentation for the Lizard skin says that it is not as durable a product as is the UPOL liner.

The rest of the areas are the two different parts of the lizardskin, first layer is the Sound control, then the Ceramic for the temp control.

By the way this is my first time using these products, so we will see.....

You're doing a great job! What's the long slit in the tranny tunnel, eBrake?

sleepertime 07-14-2014 08:29 AM

Thanks for the compliment. It is definitely a labor of love...

:superhack:

The two different slits in the tunnel are necessary for the ebrake handle and the back one is for the cable. I am going to be using a console and ebrake assembly from a 2002 Camaro. The front opening allows me to slide the base of the handle assembly thru with a thin spacer above it to allow the correct height for the console placement.

Cool project

I do like the project and I envy you for having kept the car so many years. I still regret selling the '68 I had as a kid. Had a question about the Lizard Skin, is the grey coating the Ceramic and the black the Sound Deadener? I ask because I have the same planned for my build and wanted to know. I hope that you are saving money over the mat type deadeners.

Best wishes on a successful completion.
