Looks like a great Build Rick!

I've struggled a lot with what route to go with my car, I had to really put sometime into what was my dream list and what I could really afford. With a family of 4 kids, 2 are teens, and my wife is a stay at home mom, my budget is what dictates my build and there isn't much I can do with about that. Moving twice across the country in the last year didn't help either. However I do what I can with what I got for my toys.

I built the car with about a $7000 budget. It's simple, it's a basic car on a decent suspension. With a mild 406 small block Chevy it's not super fast but has plenty of autocross torque. It gets about 18+ mpg on the highway and is fairly comfortable to ride in. Best feature of all it's a blast to drive everyday. That's what means the most to me, I can upgrade as I go and will, but unlike a lot of builds I really drive mine and that puts a smile on my face everyday. When it's track day that smile gets even bigger. Hope you can feel that too as you get into your build.

My build thread link is in my sig below if you want to check it out. Good luck!

Thanks Ben, I have been in your thread before. Nice job you have done with limited resorses you have had. Now that your at Speed Tech you should be able to get some leftovers??

Since you beat me out of buying this car from Stielow.. I had to go hunting for one here in CA.. I found this 73 in Riverside & just picked it up today.. great shape but somebody put a sun roof in it.. Easy to fix though..

Nice Cris, looks like a good car to start with. You know what's funny, I used the same trailer (Marty's) to pick up mine from Mark!

Sun roof, that's not to hard to fix!

Rick,

That obviously would be a lot of fun to drive. Plus if you sell the car, how many 2nd gens would have a 572 in it? Better $$$ return I would think. :)

Look forward to following your build as I too picked up a 73 Camaro a few weeks ago.

I don't know either of you guys, but I have been a lurker for a long time so I am familiar with your humor. Did you just call him Hun?

Ron in SoCal 06-27-2013 08:04 AM

I think he meant 'Huh', but you know...it's Rick

I doubt it.

Rick doesn't live or want to live...in SF.
