SIEG,

Good thing you posted Pinkee's truck in that "grouping" or I'd have to unfriend you.

Well are you not the Rock Star...5 pages on a project with one picture.

For a second there I thought Steilow had started another thread. Where is the "leg humper" icon when you need it. LOL

All kidding aside, glad you posted this up. I have been wanting to do the same thing with a 1960 caddy convertible. Maybe I can learn something watching this build. Just make sure you nail down the wheel base before you get started.

Payton,

6 Pages BTW ---- but who's counting.

So YESTERDAY I got an email from a guy I've known for a long time -- who's built many many hot rods -- inviting me over to his house to see the '40 Ford pickup he's building. Why? Because he's short like I am --- and he's STRETCHING his cab and thought I should sit in it before I get started.

I thought that's why people stretched their wheelbase -- in order to fit in the car?? Oh.... well maybe not apparently. LOL

He's also using an LS motor.

Here's a cut and paste from his email:

Even for us short guys, these trucks can be a little cramped. I have extended the cab two inches and recessed the firewall 1 3/4" to make room for an ls engine with a front runner system. Every thing else pretty straight forward. Superide in front and 9" in rear with 4-bar and c/o.

Did I say I liked any of them? :action-smiley-027: Though there are styling cues with each that could spark ideas.

Here are a couple photos that are "inspirational" for this build --- and I'm torn between the super simple "patina" or painted old skool styles....

This is the truck I could have started with - as Eric and I agreed on a price for it --- but I would throw all of it away -- and just use the body. It's chopped 2"... and even buying the clapped out body and chopping it and it's repair works out to be less costly than buying this one. So Eric found and acquired the one from Wyoming.

I like the front of Eric's truck, the earlier lights and less bullnose on the hood look good.

Curios to see the interior you come up with, I get what you're saying just can't picture it....well, I can picture it but it doesn't look good!

GWEN likes this one.....

I don't care for some of the details -- like the stupid looking radiator.... or the old skool mags.... but I do like the general look.

Overall this one is in my Top 5 out of the hundreds I've looked at now (exceptions as noted).......fwiw.

Though Stella would probably appreciate suicide doors as they are very K9 friendly. :D
