I asked - without hesitation he says “Omg she would kill him...” lol he perked up and appreciated the normality and simple joy Of bs ing about life and car stuff - he loved our latg community without a doubt

We definitely talked about his health issues but also never stopped the normal banter we’ve shared for years. When I helped him move his Thunderhill shop I remember cleaning out the old shop and some sappy country music song came on his play list. As I walked past him I mentioned that this **** was straight up suicide music, he said-I’ve got a bottle of morphine and a .45, I replied with my usual response, you go I go. We both paused, looked at each other and just started laughing.
I feel like he fought to the end to get things the way he felt they’d be best. He championed and made it out to the track a few times, saw his friends a couple more times and was ok with the world around him.
This pic is the last Sonoma trip when Dave was running his car. Rob Dickey convinced Weld to get out of the house and “just go”. We all met and spent the weekend at a wet track doing what we do. I have pictures of Greg wrenching on Dave’s car, fixing some electrical issues but this is more fitting. He absolutely loved being with his friends and helping where he could.
