It's in the latest issue! Congrats! You guys are doing an awesome job. It was great to see you at SEMA and I can't wait to see your project in person. If the motor is any indication of how the car will come out you have a winner!

well 39 pages and what seems like forever later I must say I am nothing short of impressed. Jason told me about the car, and I have seen little blips of it here and there but the work is simply astonishing. Awesome work guys.

On to the accessory drive - or lack there of. Space is at a premium, so each component has a small window for fitment. The other challenge was fabricating brackets that allow for pump removal without disassembling half the car.

The brackets for the A/C pump are removable on the top and bottom so that the pump can be removed without pulling the engine and or removing the oil lines from the block off adapter.

The first production Meziere electric late model hemi water pump also arrived.

The Ididit steering column arrived last week - very impressed with the build quality, fit, and finish.

Ididit built a custom aluminum tilt column for the Challenger but retained some of the Mopar styling cues - such as the column adapter. Went with a brushed aluminum finish with clear powder coat. Ididit also sent us their column drop bracket, floor mount, and Borgeson u-joint.

The sales rep at Sparco told me the seat tracks wouldn't work without using their OEM specific seat mounts... guess he was wrong.

Holy crap Tim, that is just sick to look at. very impressive.

ALSO LOOKS SO CLOSE..BUT SO FAR FROM BEING DONE.
I would love to know the hrs and money invested into this project . Is this a customers car or your own ?

What other cars have you guys done?
Again very , very nice and a inspirational build !

Looking great as always! Nice to see more progress...little by little my friend....it's going to all worth it, hell it already is!!

I love the outside-of-the-box thinking on how/where to mount the engine accessories!!!!!!

Seeing the car with a steering wheel and seats is cool.

Keep the pics coming.

I'll second that thought. Are these mounting options only viable due to the fact that you are solid mounting the engine? I would think that if it weren't any movement would cause belt issues.

Musclerodz 02-26-2009 01:21 PM

I am guessing the motor is solid mounted? It would have to be since accessories are bolted to the frame.

wiedemab 02-26-2009 01:31 PM

Yeah, I know they have the engine solid mounted. I didn't think the frame mounted access. would work if it wasn't though. I think you are supporting the fact that it wouldn't.

BTW- This project continues to amaze me!

96z28ss 02-26-2009 01:32 PM

I thought the big aluminum motor plate would of given away the fact that it was solid mounted.

Yeah, I realized that they are solid mounting the engine in this car. I guess my wording was ambiguous.

Has anyone frame mounted accessories successfully with an engine that is not solid mounted?

I realize that this isn't directly related to this project, just a question that popped into my head, so I should probably have save this thread from the derailment that inadvertently caused.

Sorry - back on topic!

96z28ss 02-26-2009 01:42 PM

Not positive on this but Rad Rides Nova. mounted the supercharger to the frame and not sure if the motor is mounted solid or not.

ironworks 02-26-2009 02:43 PM

But a Cog belt doesn not need the tension that a Serp belt does.

true but when the motor moves away it tightens. Its going to go thru alot of cogs belts. I did a cog set up with a vortech unit on an LT4 made 680rwhp but it would chew cog belts. its not really made for a street car, especially the narrow cog belts like that.

byndbad914 02-26-2009 08:32 PM

even with a cog belt you need the engine solid mounted - I have my dry sump pump attached directly to the frame in my race car and the engine solid mounted, but also have the alternator with a simple V-belt mounted.

Agreed that a cog belt runs pretty loose (I slip my 225mm belt on and off by hand to prime the engine with a drill) and serp belts need tension, but if it is solid mounted it will work no problem (there will be enough motion in the tensioner if the belt length is chosen wisely), but in no way would I soft mount an engine with frame mounted accessories, regardless of belt system.

Can sorta see the setup in this pic, at least of the alternator. It is pretty common to chassis mount accessories to make removal and so forth easier and whenever real estate is at a premium. See it all the time in off-road vehicles. Tim has clearly built a ton of sweet cars so nothing new to him

Always amazed with this build!
