When the car came back from the body shop, they had lots of residue and oxidation on them, so I did polish them up. Once I get my metal sealer shipped in, I will hit them with a red scotch brite and take them back to the machined look, and then seal them up. All the other silver metal work in the engine bay is machined and natural finish, so that's what I am going to stay with. Thanks for the compliment!

g356gear 07-07-2011 09:24 PM

I took a tip out of "Payback's" thread and used red scotch brite on the valve covers and air cleaner and then sealed them up with Wizard's metal sealer. Worked great and cleaned up a lot of the scratches that would not polish out completely. I also decided to go away from the chrome trim ring around the headlights and just stay with the single polished ring that holds the headlight bulb in place. Everything else around the headlights would be black. I think it gives it a cleaner look and goes with the theme a little better.

Very nice. I'm digging those valve covers.

Thanks guys....almost done. Just need to install the billet Marquez driving lights (wiring is all done) and the Anvil carbon front spoiler and that's about it.
(fingers crossed...knock on wood);)

g356gear 07-14-2011 09:48 PM

So, got the Marquez billet LED driving/signal lights installed and the Anvil carbon chin spoiler in satin finish mounted up. The billet housings are veeery tight in the stock housing holes. I had to persuade the mounting tab locations for the stock lights a little to get them to slide in and seat properly. The Anvil chin spoiler has no mounting holes drilled, so I had to clamp it in position and then drill and bolt each spot with some stainless allen head bolts. Pretty happy with how everything came out.

Nice job.

i think its a standard metal one just painted.
driving lights look awesome but down the line i think you should looking into different headlights/housings as they the old style looks extra dated with those high end marquez gems and that sweet cf spoiler
every time i see pics of your car i just ooogle over that color!!!

Nice job.

Thanks Greg. That bumper is actually a steel core I had welded up to the mounting brackets so I could shave the bolt heads. It was then powdercoated for durability and then color paint matched. Pretty happy with the look and an easier mod (cost wise) than an endura bumper.

Hey Jay,
I will switch to HID soon but for now I just want to get the car on the road. Maybe if we get some good weather that can happen. 38 days out of the last 45 have been rain here, so I havent missed much driving weather.

g356gear 07-16-2011 07:22 PM

DHL dropped off a new set of FESLER black anodized billet 3D tail lights for the car yesterday. Fit was perfect, quality excellent.

Old and the new side by side

looks awesome... love the white interior too.

g356gear 07-17-2011 02:35 PM

Went on the shakedown run today. 1 speedo issue and the tach is still giving me grief but that was about it.

I'm glad it went well for you, only a few small things wrong. That first drive must have felt sweet! It looks great.

g356gear 07-17-2011 06:57 PM

Thanks Wayne. It was a good feeling.

Great updates. Love those Marquez lights and the Fesler tail lights. They go well with that black tail panel. You must have had a grin from ear to ear when driving it.

Thanks Tone. As with each project, there is always a small list of issues that need to be addressed before everything is where you would like it.

1. Speedo has decided that the needle wants to jump and the odometer does not want to turn any more.
2. Tach works fine up until 1500 rpm and then drops off to zero.
3. I have a dead spot in the powersteering about 1/4 turn off center to the right. There are no clearance issues, no belt slippage and fluid is right up, so I am thinking the original steering box may be having an issue.

It's the little annoying things that I want to get cleaned up before I can really enjoy the car to it's fullest.;)

Very good. I know once those things are done and gone, you'll be extremely happy taking her out for a cruise. That is a great looking car. Enjoy!

A little more candy for the rear 4-link. Ridetech triple adjustable coil overs with remote resevoirs.
Hopefully will help with the sharpness of the ride on the street.

Let us know what you think about them after some miles. What shocks do you have now?

waynieZ 09-08-2011 01:45 PM

If they work as good as they look your all set.

Standard QA-1's that came from Prodigy with the 4 link.

g356gear 09-22-2011 08:03 AM

Shocks Installed. Had to wait for some extra bushings from Ridetech so that took an extra week. I utilized an existing hitch bar that was on the car to hold the resevoirs. Worked out pretty well.

Finally got the car back into the body shop for some minor touch ups and fixes. Pretty happy with the final product.

Thanks guys! Not sure how much road time the car will see this summer. I have a 2 1/2 year old son at home and twins arriving in 1 week. :willy: I think things are going to be a little hectic for the next little while. ;)

Jay Hilliard 06-13-2012 10:37 AM
