Quick update - with the help of a buddy - I got the supercharger in.

The blower itself is pretty dang heavy and definitely needed an extra hand to get it on top of the motor.

I need to finish up the PCV lines, install the fuel rail/injectors - and install the coolant lines.

I'll finish up the install next week.

Now for the pics:

Nice job. Cant wait to hear about the added power.

Nice work! I can't wait to hear how you like the new power adder.

bonecrrusher 03-01-2016 08:14 AM

Thanks everyone!

I finally got back to the Vette - I got the intercooler hoses run, the PCV hoses, as well as the Evap Solenoid hooked up as well.

I still need to install the fuel rail, injectors, as well as finish up the air intake/sensors install.

After that - I need to drain the coolant and replace the T-stat seal that is leaking - then install the belt.

Put fluids in it and it should be good to fire it off. Hopefully I can finish that in the next day or so.

Quick update - I got all of the plumping, fuel rails, injectors, and all the wiring and sensors finished last night.

I still need to install the belt, and drain the coolant - and replace that Theromstat housing gasket as well - I hope to finish that off tonight and fire the car off.

I also found my Power Steering tank leaking - figures. So I went ahead and ordered a new tank and hose the connects to the pump. Thankfully that is on top of the motor and access is pretty easy to get to.

My tune is on 3/14 - and so far so good.

Here is a pic with the fuel rail covers on it:

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1492/...27804919_b.jpg

bonecrrusher 03-04-2016 04:15 PM

2 steps forward - 2 steps backward.

That is todays update.

I got the coolant drained - and replaced that leaking T-stat gasket.

I then tried to fire the car up - it fires up - and dies right away.

So I know its getting fuel, and spark. But its on the stock tune - and the MAP sensor is now a 2 bar Ford map sensor - and the MAF is now an LS3 unit. There is no hope of the car running without getting it tuned.

I spoke with my tuner - and they recommended I upgrade my injectors as the 60 lb / hr wouldn't keep up with all the mods that I have done to the motor - so I have a set of those on the way.

I also swapped out the stock 3.875" pulley to a 3.25" pulley - as I am going to lose boost with the ported heads and the long tubes. After dropping down the pulley size - I looked and saw the belt now rubbing on the water pump. I called Edelbrock and the recommended a 101.7" length belt.

Doing some research I found that Edelbrock redesigned there tensioner cast aluminum bracket - as well as upgraded the tensioner itself. Since I am a bit over a week away - I found there upgrade kit and ordered it on Amazon - and I ordered that belt size.

The Edelbrock kit/belt should get here on Sunday.

So pending everything arrives next week - I need to:

Install new injectors.
Install new Edelbrock tensioner/belt.
Install new PS tank and hose.
Adjust rubbing exhaust.
Adjust front coilovers - might need to raise them with the added weight of the blower.

Now for teh pics:

bonecrrusher 03-13-2016 07:19 PM

So I finished up the blower install last week.

I put the 3.25" pulley on there - and installed a 102.5" belt along with the new Edelbrock tensioner - everything fit great.

I also installed the new 95 lb / hr injectors.

My Power Steering tank and hose came in yesterday - and I got those installed today.

I refilled the tank - and back the car outside by hand. I got it half way turned around in my driveway and realized I couldn't push it anymore.

So for sh*ts and giggles I turned on the car - it fired up right away and the 15 feet I had to back it up and do a 3 point turn - it ran just fine.

I'm not going to risk it - so I have a tow truck coming in the morning to take it to the tuner.

I finalized the install today - zip tied a few wires out of the way and finished everything up.

I also ordered a set of Holley LS Valve covers that look sweet. It will clean up the engine bay - and get rid of those goofy Edelbrock fuel rail covers (that fit like sh*t too)!

I'll report later on what the final dyno numbers are.

This morning I had the Vette towed to PCM of NC - they are going to dyno tune it over the next couple of days. I should get it back by Wed.

Also - I finally got the proper length pipe for my cheap foam cannon. The thread on the pipe is BST - and I had to order it from McMaster Carr - as I couldn't find any other vendors that carried it.

I tested out the cannon with some cheap Armor All generic car soap - and it worked great.

I got the dyno results - 580 rwhp / 523 rear torque.

I am pretty impressed - as I had no idea what it would put down.

I should get the car Friday morning - I'll post initial thoughts.

69lsvert 03-17-2016 03:15 AM

Nice numbers! What were you at before the E-force install with the mods you did to it? You taking it to the auto fair next month?

bonecrrusher 03-17-2016 04:43 AM

I'll be with Metrolina Corvettes next month at Autofair.
We are scheduled to be under the stands up top.

I've dynoed the car 3x in the past - these are at the rear wheel:

375 hp - mostly bolt ons.
450 hp - cam / CNC heads, long tube headers, LS3 intake, injectors + tune.
580 hp - blower / Edelbrock CAI / injectors + tune.

Che70velle 03-17-2016 08:12 PM

Wow! Impressive numbers! It just dawned on me that this is a 6liter car. I had it in my mind for a while now, that this was an ls3...duh...
I love what you've done to this car!

Thanks man!

Yep - the block is LS2 everything from the crank up is different.

LS9 Cam
LS7 Lifters
CNC LS3 heads
E-Force LS3 kit

I got the car back today - and holycrap is it fast!

I really hated how the power band moved up with the LS9 cam - its nice to have that low end torque again!

Initial thoughts - need to be more careful gunning the car - even with new 345's it wants to kick out.

Also - the blower is quiet as hell - or its my loud ass exhaust, you can't hear it at all!

Jay Hilliard 03-18-2016 11:21 AM

awesome numbers! Now go drive that thing and have some fun.

bonecrrusher 03-20-2016 09:20 AM

I finally finished up this swap - I installed my Holley LS valve covers, and took off my factory coil packs and painted them.

I love the look of the covers and the coil packs - so much better then the Edelbrock covers that didn't fit.

That should be about it for awhile - now for some pics:

Nice work

Engine looks great like that, good choice.

bonecrrusher 03-25-2016 08:31 AM

After I got my car back from the dyno - I noticed that the drivers seat stopped moving back and forward.

The memory seat buttons wouldn't make the seat move either.

Then I tested the seat buttons without any weight in the seat - and they worked fine.

Come to find out the wire harness connecting to the seat module had stretched and with weight on it - caused the motor to not get its signal from the module.

Apparently this is a common problem with the C6 - so I ordered a new pigtail harness from Amazon - and pulled the seat out.

Removing the pig tail from the module - I found the wire completely snapped off from the plug. So I cut the plug off - stripped back the wiring.

I soldered in one of the wires and that took forever. I started on the second wire - and my cheap HF soldering iron died.

A quick trip to Lowe's and I bought a real soldering gun - I got the other wire done in like 5 minutes.

I put the seat back in the car - and everything works again!

Truck update:

I just finished up my last project on this truck.

My rear bumper has been shot since day one - the chrome was stained and it was rusting from the inside out. I looked into aftermarket bumpers - and they just weren't for me.

I saw someone put at 2014+ 1500 rear bumper on a NBS 1500 series truck and I really liked it.

I picked up a work truck model 2014+ rear bumper for cheap on ebay ~$250. It is flat black, has no sensors in it, and was supposed to bolt right up to a 1500.

I got the bumper in a few days - and stripped it down.

It had a few scratches in it - but I sanded and smoothed them out - and primed, base coat, and clear coated the rear bumper ~$40 in materials.

I got the bumper back together and tried to put it on the truck - it bolted right up but I had a huge gap between the bumper and the bed.

I thought that would happen - so I ordered a set of 2015+ 2500 HD brackets - and while the bolted to the bumper they would not bolt to the frame as the bolt holes are in different locations and the hardware setup is different. I mocked them up in the rear frame rails - and the bumper sat in the same exact location as the 1500 brackets!

So I decided to go back to the 1500 brackets - and send the 2500 bumper brackets back.

On the frame rails - I made the top hole for the bumper bracket the new bottom hole. I drilled a hole in the frame 2" above the old top hole. I also drilled another hole for the most forward hole in the frame rail 2" above the old location.

This moved the entire assembly up. I then painted the new holes in the frame rail and bolted everything up. I also moved over the wire harness for the rear plate lights, and the locking spare tire access port over from the old bumper.

For less then $300 I got a new rear bumper that isn't jacked up.

It was cold as hell in there on Saturday - Sunday wasn't too much better at least the wind died down.

Too be honest I was barely by my car all weekend - I was walking around and sitting out in the stands in the sun for most of the day.

I did manage to snag a trophy - can't complain with all the work that I've done to the car over the last few months:

Ever since I put those Holley valve covers on - I have been having problems with losing oil/a huge cloud of smoke billowing out of the car on cold start up.

I did some research and the Holley covers like to suck oil through the drivers side valve cover right into the blower.

I am sure on a N/A setup - they would work great, but after loosing a quart of oil in a weekend - I had enough.

I ripped them off and ordered a set of LS9 valve covers.

These are built for boost - and give off the same look of no coil pack brackets.

For now I put the stock covers back on - and have not had an issue. No oil consumption, no huge clouds of white smoke on startup, etc.

I got the covers a few days ago - and have painted them black like the Holley covers.

I'll put them on the car after they cure for a couple days.

I also ordered a catch can - and will install that along with the covers.

This should resolve my oil consumption issues - and give me the look that I am after.

At the end of the month I will be towing the car up to VA for the Wannagofast 1/2 mile event up there - my shirt just came in today.

These new covers should help out - after losing that quart of oil in 60 miles or so - I had enough and went back to stock.

Sucks having to go through different parts to resolve your issues.

One plus side is that the LS9 covers have the newer PCV vents on them -and allows the E-Force PCV valves to snap and lock on to them.

The Holleys and LS2 covers didn't allow that fitting to work - so I had to remove them. This will make for a more clean setup.

ZMAN1969 04-19-2016 02:00 PM

Bonecrusher, I just read this whole thread should of listed it as 05 vette build, G8, SS and P/u :) good stuff and I can say I like it! your cheap like me which isn't bad. you made some good choices your door opener is same one I have in my shop I built in '12 - had to use that because of my ceiling design, you mentioned a quote of 900$ installed mine was $1400 but it included a 8'x16' door that was insulated as well - my installer said he had never installed one before and he said they were high guess if you call'em up and that's what you get charged for them-crazy. I LOL on the picture with you finger :lmao: at the old opener. Ill keep my eyes peeled for you on HRPT I've been many times although I doubt your coming this year- keep up the good work man car is looking and running great!

ZMAN - Thanks for reading! Yeah I'm pretty cheap in regards to fixing stuff around the house and the cars as I am a pretty big DIY'r.

That opener wasn't too bad of an install - and I got 2 more of the same style of opener on my new house/shop.

As for this years Power Tour - I'm passing on it since it is such a far drive in both directions for me. You being in Texas - at least its somewhat close for you.

bonecrrusher 04-24-2016 01:21 PM

I got the LS9 valve covers installed - as well as my Elite Engineering Catch Can.

I ended up having to order the oil fill tube for an LSA engine as the LS2 one will not clip in because the LS9 valve covers have an extra tab inside the cover - and they moved the tabs as well.

I am still waiting on some 90* fittings from Edelbrock - this will allow the PCV hoses to snap into the LS9 valve covers - as they are designed to clip in to them.

I am also waiting for a straight barb on the catch can - it currently has a 90* fitting on there making the PCV hose wrap around the can.

Once those come in - I will trim the hoses to the proper length and clean everything up.

Now for teh pics:

bonecrrusher 04-28-2016 05:01 PM

I finally got the PCV system finished up.

My 90* elbows came in from Edelbrock - I had to order them through Summit Racing and it ended up being a custom order.

These 90's snap right into the LS9 valve covers - and cleans up the PCV hose routing a lot.

Also - after adding the catch can I went on a 30 mile drive. I got home and filled up the can.

I added a PCV valve between the drivers rear port and the can. I went on the same drive - and there was barely anything inside the catch can.

So I think I got the oiling issue resolved.

As for the half mile event this weekend - I've done a bunch of work on the truck to get it ready to tow the Vette up to VA.

I added a trailer brake, discovered that the rear U joint was cracked - so had that replaced and the DS rebalanced, replaced the the transfer case fluid, and got an alignment and ended up having to replace one of the batteries. So after all this work - i should be good to go.

So the Wannagofast event didn't happen on Saturday.

I ended up having issues with my trailer that I had rented. I got home with the trailer and noticed one of the ramps was missing. I fought for a couple hours with all of my boards and race ramps at the house - and couldn't make up for that missing ramp. I couldn't get the Vette onto the trailer without screwing up the front bumper. I took the trailer back and got my money back - so I had thrown in the towel for the event on Saturday.

I slept in and started seeing all the Fog emails/FB pics up in the VA mountains.

They ended up not running at all that day - here is a pic that a friend of mine took.

I am glad I had the trailer issues - it saved me a 10 hour drive and I didn't have to get up at 4am.

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1472/...b0b7d873_b.jpg

I'm not sure whats next for the Vette - but I need to put some miles on this setup. I'll probably do a few local SCCA Autocrosses this summer - thats probably about it.

Jon69RagTop 05-02-2016 04:44 PM

Pcv valve.

Can you provide some info on the PVC valve?

bonecrrusher 05-06-2016 06:29 PM

So my truck steering column has been whistling for a long time now. When stopped at a light or stop sign - there was a very audible whistle coming from the PS system. If you turned the wheel slightly - it'd shut up.

So after dealing with that for way too long - I ordered a new GM pump - and PS lines.

I tore the truck apart - and got the new parts swapped in.

The swap took 2 nights after work - but I finally finished up.

I put in new PS fluid - turned the wheels side to side and I'm good to go.

I still need to flush out the system - but that can wait for another day.

I did have to rent the PS pulley remover/installer tool from Autozone for this swap - but otherwise it wasn't too terrible.

Beck / Amley 0450299 PCV Valve

I ordered it at Autozone - but you can prob get a better price on Amazon.

I used some hose worm clamps to tighten the hose down on it - it looks pretty ugly but I hid it under the blower snout.

bonecrrusher 05-10-2016 08:39 PM

Quick update:

After I was tracking down a leak on the PS setup - I saw that my bull bar was was looking like crap.

I took the 4 bolts off - and removed it. I really like the looks of it without the bar on there.

I also decided to ditch the Bro-Truck billet grill. I removed it but the plastic grill underneath looks like crap.

So I painted it with SEM Trim black paint - and will put it back in when it finishes drying.

I also installed the LBZ mouthpiece and updated my 10+ year old cold air intake.

The truck came with an AFE Magnum Force intake - which doesn't look like it has been in production for a long time.

So I found a Spectre Diesel filter that fit in the AFE box - and put in the LBZ part.

I can't say I feel a huge difference - but removing a big restriction in the air path has to help.

I let the grill dry for 24 hours - and installed it today.

For being a can of SEM Trim paint that I had sitting around - I think it turned out pretty well.

That will be it for awhile - I think my next project will be a Corsa downpipe and catback - but that will be awhile.

Back to the Vette!

I saw that some folks are using the Halltech Beehive intake shroud with there E-Force cold air intakes.

It lowers IAT's by isolating the filter from the hot engine bay.

So I ordered one - and had to modify it because of the front intercooler heat exchanger piping on the passenger side.

After a few cuts with a jigsaw - and trial fitting it - I finished up the install. I also hid the MAF sensor wire under the filter so that its no longer visable.

I went on test drive and had no issue - as I pulled into the driveway I smelled coolant.

I popped open the hood - and saw a cut in the coolant hose connecting the heater core > water pump > coolant expansion tank reservoir.

I must have moved the hose when I was installing the intake - and didn't check for clearance before my test drive.

I sliced the hose - and sprung a tiny leak. I cleaned up the engine bay and I have ordered a new hose. It wasn't super expensive - but a dumb mistake.

I will probably be replacing the hose sometime next week - I don't think it will arrive quickly.

I filmed a couple review videos - one with about my Maxjax lift - and one about my E-Force install, issues, and overall impression.

SS update...

The SS comes with a lot of chrome on it - both on the exterior and interior.

I have already deleted the chrome on the front of the car - but not the interior.

I just finished up removing and installing the following Holden black trim parts.

Touch Screen Navigation surround.
Shifter surround.
Bottom half of the steering wheel trim.

Install was fairly painless - just took the time to be careful and not break anything.

I have to say - it looks way better.

I got these Holden parts from HoldenPartsUSA in California - and I got them in 3 days to NC. That sure beats shipping from down under.

Here are some finished pics:

Hey guys - been a while - but I'm still around.

Things have been busy around here - I've been busy shooting/producing/and uploading some videos to my Youtube channel. If you are interested in seeing the updates to the truck, SS, Vette, and around the shop - you can see them here:

Besides that - I finally got the exhaust for my Duramax.

This spring I ordered a Corsa front pipe - and got it in a few days.

Back in May - I tried to order a Corsa catback. The supplier took 5 weeks to tell me that it was on back order, and then discontinued. So I got my money back. Then in early July - I called Corsa directly and asked if they still sold there diesel mufflers - they said yes it was a valid number and still available. So I ordered just the muffler - and a Jamo 4" stainless exhaust. The catback w/ muffler delete showed up - but the muffler was on backorder. 6 more weeks the supplier called me and said it was on backorder and then discontinued.

At this point I got fed up - and did some research. I found a company called FTE Diesel based out of Ohio - and they sold a 30" x 4" resonator/muffler that cuts down on drone. A lot of Cummins guys and a few Duramax guys recommended these mufflers - so I placed an order for a stainless unit.

I got the muffler in a few days and I installed the exhaust this week.

Overall the install went smoothly - and I am fairly happy. It's louder at idle, and when you gas it - and it quiets down when cruising on the interstate.

Here are some pics - I'll post a video in a few days.
