I just read the entire thread today. I know I am a little late to the build but I did subscribe. I look forward to seeing this one (and the 70 Mustang) finished.

I really did not think that my whiskey flask oil can fit this build.. SO we built this one for the car.. I think this one will flow better with the engine compartment..

Im sure its been asked but whats the chances of you making some extra set of taillights?

Cris@JCG 06-15-2011 07:24 AM

Sorry, but I won't make another set of these tail lights.. The only reason we made these was because I of the tail panel look we were after & basically had to reshape the tail panel to match the bezels..

For the last two weeks we have been up to setting up the engine compartment plumbing.. What a job! Machine shop is working on some more parts that I need for the dry sump system.. Got parts back from water jet..

Tow hook brackets bolted up perfect!

Some of the headaches of running -12 hoses for the dry sump!

Very nice Cris. Glad you're tackling all that dry sump plumbing now...;)

ErikLS2 06-25-2011 12:56 PM

Great looking work there Cris, I always enjoy reading your project threads.

Where can I get some of those line clamps I see on the brake and fuel lines?

Cris@JCG 06-25-2011 02:45 PM

Thanks Ron! We got a pretty good handle on this dry sump system.. make sure you get a LS9 oil pump on your LS7.. it produces greater volume and higher system oil pressure

Machine shop just finished these pcs...

Dry sump oil tank distribution block it feeds oil to engine, it holds mesh filter, oil drain, & will be able to mount oil temp sensor.. & a few fittings to weld 3/4 stainless tubing..

Plus 1/2 barb fitting to weld to 3/8 tubing for the back of the intake for booster vaccum..

http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_1299.jpg

And here is the idea of where it will be mounted..

Cris who makes that black hose and those fittings and is it a Teflon inner or CPE? Nice plumbing work too BTW.

Cris@JCG 06-29-2011 07:38 AM

WE are using XRP fittings.. they have a great assortment fitting available.. The hose you see in the pic is not the one we are using.. We will be changing it over to XR-31 hose that has a flat wound internal support coil.. That hose will be used for the dry sump & oil cooler lines..

Dry Sump Tank

Here is what the dry sump oil tank is looking like... Basically a 6 inch cylinder with a rectangular addition to it for added capacity & to fit in the cowl tulip.. All internals are like any standard tanks you would buy from aftermarket companies.. We are stopping for now & going to assemble the fender on the car & wait for a few pcs. I need for the oil fill I need on the firewall..

http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_1302.jpg

We hard lined the on the side of the engine to cross over the header.. Here is a pic of it.. Sorta!

http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_1305.jpg

waynieZ 06-29-2011 09:59 AM

Very Nice install Chris. Great place to put the tank.

tones2SS 06-30-2011 05:59 PM

Great stuff guys!

Cris@JCG 06-30-2011 07:05 PM

Small details!

Last nite I spent 2 hrs trying to figure out how the hell I was going to run the valve cover hoses to the oil breather tank.. 10 & 12 hoses are huge not to mention the fittings.. So, this moring we came up with a game plan & strarted plumbing.. DAMM firewall to engine clearance was making it tough.. Made a punch list if we pulled the motor if we would work faster.. It was worth it.. These details you will never see but make a world of difference..

I have not had much to update on this project but here are some progress pics...

I have never been a big fan wiring but when first introduced to LS conversions it scared me cause of all the wiring & not familiar with the technology.. Now it seems like a breeze to me.. I took it upon myself to open up all the engine harness & clean it up & loom it with nylon braid for a cleaner look.. learned allot.. next time will even be easier.. Hell !! I even made this cart so that I don't have to be working with engine & trans off a pallet.. Of course this cart has other purposes.. LS Engine Fire- Stand... I will finish it in a couple of weeks when I need to fire up a engine..

Plumbing rear-end, Install sway bar, welding ground bungs.. & just a bunch of details that needed to be wrapped up while the engine was out.. I will have more progress next week with prototype goodies!!!

A/C brackets

Ok.. One more update..

For LS conversions I have always been & big fan of the Corvette Accy drive system.. instead of trying to fight with fitting it low.. It will mount on the pass side cylinder head.. Plus using a Saden 7 A/C compressor.. & will have and adjustable belt tensioner instead of a spring tensioner...

Will this work with the truck Accy drive system?

Cris@JCG 07-22-2011 06:46 PM

From my understanding a trk drive system has the same distance as a 2010 Camaro.. I have been able to make some spacers to make the Corvette drive system work on a 2010 Camaro.. I have seen Pace Performace offer the 2010 Camaro drive system.. but you still need to buy a water pump.. Trk is different..
