Are there any update's yet.

ironworks 01-12-2012 08:10 AM

Well the progress continues at a pretty fast pace. The rear package tray and firewall are getting built to go in the car. The dash is being laid out for the direction Greg an I both think we are going. We built a mock up cluster to give us a size representation for what we think will fit proportion wise.

I hope Greg can still reach the pedals around that big Jack stand.

Gauge cluster mock up.

We found this really bitchin gas cap on a street bike website.

We are working on some taillight bezel designs and I'm getting ready to try my 2nd prototype chassis. I think I found another inch of ground clearance.

Autokraft 01-12-2012 10:11 AM

Rodger is it cold out there? I see everyone is wearing Stocking hats and sweat shirts:D

GregWeld 01-12-2012 10:33 AM

You charging me rental on that? Can I get a monthly rate? Ned says he's not getting billed for any sandpaper, or haz mat fees or anything like that! WTF

Roger - The car is looking great! Good job of resourcing the gas cap.

Hey,when you guys take pictures of Greg's car do it from the other direction, that way I can see project slow motion in the background:thumbsup:

GregWeld 01-12-2012 06:29 PM

If you charge me for a full sheet of metal - do I get credited for the scrap value of all those little pieces left over?:D

Yep, just like Rajah has to charge you the same amount whether he works on your car or has to spend time replying to you crackin' wise at him all day.

I think the justice system calls it the 'penalty phase'.

He keeps it cold in there so they work faster to keep warm

Well here is some progress pics for the dash design we are working on. The bent tube is just there for lay out. The switches on the dash are from a Ford GT. No thing new there, but we thought they fit the vibe we were shooting for.

We are working on bumper lay out and designing bezels for the lotus taillights.

Looks awesome but I have to wonder about a booster seat.:unibrow:

Good thing he found a telephoto lens!

coolwelder62 01-13-2012 09:03 AM

Those gauge pod's stick up kinda high. Will the owner be able to see over the top of them.We wouldn't want him too have a hard time seeing what was out in front of the car and run over a small child playing in the street.:wow:

fleet 01-13-2012 09:06 AM

Dash looks good.

Stielow's gonna have to post here though, and often, to get this thing over the 500K views Greg has targeted.

Or run over your sandwich.....:willy:

Musclerodz 01-13-2012 09:13 AM

I think I would lower the guages to keep the profile near the bottom of the winshield for a bit cleaner appearance. love the concept.

It's no higher then stock. We lowered the top of the dash well over an inch. Plus the dash rolls more down hill toward the driver.

You could be right Rodger, but think of the owner, driving the Hot Rod Power Tour and having to sit on a Phone book all those miles.

I know some other "stuff" that rolls downhill.... and it's head you're way. Go get a 4th grader and have him sit in the seat and see if he can see... :D

This seat has some many adjustments it could fit me and Scott Mock for one trip. The 2 biggest guys on this board. Then it could haul Greg, Todd and Tony for a trip to the circus also.

Looks Perfect to me and I am no taller the Greg.!!!

okay maybe just a little bit.

ps - just make sure you set up the seats so he can't lay back. Because if he lays back it won't be good. Scott will for sure get his sandwich run over.

So here is the direction we are going with the dash. We took alot of inspiration from a fancy super high end watch company. MBandF watches make some killer stuff. We found this watch and it got us thinking what would this thing look like as a gauge cluster pod.

http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...bf-hm4_lg1.jpg

Greg said he really liked the interior of the Ford GT.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...-1600x1200.jpg

We have had both Sean Smith and Brian Stupski drawing some ideas on different aspects of this build. They both came back with a direction from out interpretation. Each rendering for the dash has quite a few things we like in each one and some other things that tell us not the direction on some other stuff. So this is the direction we are looking for.

http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t.../briandash.jpg
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...p/seandash.jpg

GregWeld 01-13-2012 02:35 PM

Let me also ADD that we WILL NOT be doing the "Horn of plenty" curved gauge pods shown on the one rendering!

Personally I prefer the first drawing with the open top -- to me it says Bad Ass -- but with the tapered gauge pods STRAIGHT not curved but also totally "exposed" so they really make a statement ala the MB&F watch...

Marty -- You forgot the "D"....

waynieZ 01-13-2012 03:35 PM

That would be awesome if you could put a heads up display with that set up.

CRCRFT78 01-13-2012 03:48 PM

That first design is killer. Looks nice and sleek. The other just screams fat chick to me for some reason. Its nice but looks like it'll appear to be a little bulky in there.
