Pretty much my thought.... it was good enough for me.

GregWeld 11-07-2014 07:21 AM

Okay ----- FINALLY some progress!!! Remember that I "sprang" this project on the shop. There was no plan or no discussions about timing etc -- it was a minor discussion about buying the shop truck that within a week turned into a purchase and a build. So there is no time set or even discussed of when where how or when. LOL

Firewall comes out because it's being set back to make better room for the engine choice and radiator etc. The rest is rot repair and a little hot rodding. :>)

It won't matter how long it takes, we'll still need pictures. :warning:

Ron in SoCal 11-07-2014 04:27 PM

It's lovely.

I think that's what Payton calls these things?

Vince@Meanstreets 11-07-2014 08:22 PM

looking good greg, I like the sword fighting themed firewall.

Was that done with a bead roller?

I don't know Vince.... WTF -- I didn't even know it was a firewall... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

DBasher 11-09-2014 12:03 AM

Sell it and buy the roadster next to it! Way cooler!

Really? How many roadsters do I need? You're like Charley.... his "YOU NEED" is his "I WANT".

The pickup is for Stella --- she'll have a nice bed to ride in so I never have to leave her at home (and NO you bonerheads Stella isn't a new girlfriend -- Gwen is my WIFE - and STELLA is my Chocolate Lab). And this is a bed that never has to be made.

intocarss 11-11-2014 12:09 AM

Why can't Stella ride inside the car with you?:RunninDog:

Okay -- it's pretty obvious you've never been in a '40 Ford pickup...

As deep and wide as the beads are, I'm going to say pullmax.

Jeff-

It's her 2nd Birthday today ---- I'm waiting so as not to spoil that for her. :>)

waynieZ 11-11-2014 01:50 PM

Give her a kiss on the head for me and tell her happy Birthday from uncle Wayne :RunninDog:

GregWeld 12-02-2014 06:54 AM

Well.... at least I have SOME progress on the '40. I know the motor and tranny have been ordered as well. Better progress on this old girl than say a certain Torino with a RS chassis... or a Camaro with Ford racing stripes. :D :innocent:

If Ring Brothers will share the paint code with me -- I'm thinking that tan color of their Chevelle.

Just a base LS3 crate motor (430ish HP?) and an electronic automatic. We discussed three pedals --- but this is just an around town cruiser and an automatic is just easier all around. The 430 LS model is more than enough for motivation in this truck. They did set the firewall back an inch and a half... and with The Roadster Shop coil over chassis -- it will be a nice little driver.

DBasher 12-02-2014 12:43 PM

 on not stretching the cab

Rick D 12-02-2014 03:04 PM

Looking good Greg

Jay Hilliard 12-02-2014 03:33 PM

Looking good Greg. Keep us posted on the progress.

I second this. Truck would look killer in that color.
Thanks for sharing Greg.

glassman 12-02-2014 08:29 PM

Primer, tan, petina, glossy color, doesn't matter imo.
Roadster Shop + LS = complete success! :trophy-1302:

Wonder if they would have installed a 'Weld Vacuums' rear frame section?

fleet 01-21-2015 08:53 PM

One sweet, tight 'lil truck.

waynieZ 01-21-2015 08:54 PM

It looks sweet Greg. That's one of the best looking front ends on this truck.
