Swapped out the package tray. The one that was in there looked like the speaker holes had been opened with a chain saw and a small hole repair by the rear bumper area.

Sounds like Drip Rails are a pain in the a$$ to replace. Brent and a few others tried to convince me to go without them and I'll admit that looking at Snowblind by EBMC at SEMA made the idea tempting. (That car is just wicked on every level) But it's not for me and we kept them.

I do have photos with the new roof and drip rails, but must not have up loaded them to Smug Mug. I'll get back to those.

I find it funny how we start to view our projects as a drain especially when they are away at a shop. I know I am in good hands, but seeing the cash go out and not having the car at home or even close makes it seem like throwing cash into a bottomless pit. When I started getting these pictures all of that went away...instantly! This if my favorite part of a build. Hard to believe it's my car...weird.

Did we decide on a color yet?

trevor572 11-22-2015 03:26 PM

Hi.

Hi. I have only read the second half of your build thread. Firstly, I am glad the body work is all but done and you're pretty much ready for paint. Your panel and paint shop seem to have communicated well throughout the whole process, and done a great job.
It's going to be nice to have the car home, Tony beat me to it.😊 but dying to know if you've chosen a colour yet and how much of the trim you'll be putting back on? Cheers Trevor.

Thanks guys! I am really stoked about the progress. Jim is doing great work and I am very lucky to have someone with his passion and talent working on my car. The plan is to have Jim install anything that I would probably damage the paint doing myself. Soooo....basically everything. New glass, trim, RS kit, tail lights, door handles etc.

As for the amount of trim...The plan is to just use the window trim. I am running stock left and right side mirrors and stock door handles. We shaved the door and trunk locks and will not run any emblems.

As for color....I am set on silver, the bigger question is which one. There's a reason I asked you about yours Trevor. Hopefully you'll post up a few more before to long.

trevor572 11-22-2015 09:42 PM

No Worries Curtis.

No worries, I will be away this weekend, but if I can organise someone to give me a hand to get the car in and out of the shed the following weekend ( it's a bit uphill ) I will try to get some photos in different light conditions for you, weather permitting. It's a colour that really flips and highlights the body lines. Cheers.

YES! We have a color! Black stripes or no stripes?

It's going to look timeless and clean! Love it!

WSSix 11-25-2015 08:13 AM

Nice update, Curtis! Glad things are moving along nicely for you. Silver is a great color on these cars. I would suggest a silver like Trevor has on his car. Kind of has a champagne flash to it at certain angles. Good luck whatever you decide.

I think that's really the only way to get things done on these projects ! lol

Musclerodz 11-25-2015 06:29 PM

Do you want a blinding silver or a subtle one?

No I'm not looking to cause any traffic accidents, but I don't want it to blend in either.

Got a suggestion?

Here's this weeks update from the shop. Jim made sure to remind me that these are rough lines and will be fine tuned.

Closed up all the unnecessary holes in the trunk lid. :lostmarbles: but worth it.

Hi Curtis.

Hi Mate, just looking at the pics of inside your trunk lid and jambs, very apparent your body guy has way too much time on his hands and you have way too much money. lol. are you planning a similar treatment for the underside of the hood and perhaps getting rid of the seams on the fender extensions, valance and header? I reckon you should close those last few holes under the trunk lid and get a nice rear spoiler done in steel, a bit OE looking but a bit custom also, seeing we are spending your money not mine. lol Cheers Trevor.

Trevor, I gave Jim "the big picture" and now I just try to keep up. We walked the car before it headed into surgery, played twenty questions and came up with a plan. He's way ahead of me when it comes to knowing all the small details that help a car reach it's desired look and vibe. "Smooth, Clean & Balanced" is the goal. I'm not huge on the "one piece" look you describe. The remainder of the body lines (valance and header) will still be there along with the fender extensions. I won't be running a front bumper so we closed up the gap, but kept the line.

I love a Camaro when she has her bumper off - So to speak-
Looking good!

trevor572 11-27-2015 01:47 AM

Yeah Curtis

Yeah I'm with you now. I thought with the subtle changes around the rear you might carry that through onto the front also, but that wouldn't be practical either. I'm really impressed with the commitment to quality and the communication your body man maintains with you, quite a few threads on some of the forums tell of shocking experiences with body and paint shops. Great to hear something positive. Cheers Trevor.

Finally have the missing pictures of the roof. The new drip rails are on and it's all stitched up. Work has been slowed by the holidays which is totally fine in my book.

Hi Curtis

Hi Curtis, I'm still a bit surprised at the amount of bodywork your car needèd, it looked such a clean car starting out, but in Jim's hands at least it's getting done properly and going to be spot on. Can't wait to see her all painted up but mate, in case I had failed to mention it previously, I'm not a patient person!! lol. Cheers Trevor

Smitty68 12-12-2015 05:11 AM

Very nice touches to the inconspicuous panels like the deck lid. Your body man is doing awesome work to say the least! The lines and gaps are as perfect as any could ask.
Again looking good Curtis!.......:king:

Ricochet 12-12-2015 10:22 AM

Looking good Curtis!! Glad to see Jim got it all done. He lost a few nights of sleep due to nightmares of the roof!! He nailed it.... No surprise though!
