Yes, That's Matt Knight. He's been here in Indy for about a year. I think he was in Iowa at a high end semi customizer just before coming to Indianapolis. He's doing a very nice fox mustang turbo car right now.

He sold that mustang when he moved to indy. Bought a new one here, drove it for a couple months, then pulled the motor to "repaint" the engine bay.... now the car is completely blown apart, media blasted and primed, smoothed the engine bay and he's currently doing fender flares and hiding the gas tank filler in behind the Pax tail light assy. That's how we do it right ? buy them, blow them apart, - and then sell them at a loss...   Jim |

Mo Parts
While at Columbus I was able to pick up some more parts for the car.
ECM Mount and Remote Coil Mounts from Rodger at Ironworks (a site supporting vendor). http://i940.photobucket.com/albums/a...CM-Bracket.jpg http://i940.photobucket.com/albums/a...M-Mount-03.jpg http://i940.photobucket.com/albums/a...Coil-Mount.jpg And after Chad (CCRacin) blew the side outta his Camaro’s LS6 motor, he purchased a replacement from Greg Weld who had a LS6 drop out from a Vette in his shed. Chad didn’t need the vette ECM, Wiring Harness and Intake system, so he sold them to me and I will use them on my buildup. http://i940.photobucket.com/albums/a...nd-Harness.jpg http://i940.photobucket.com/albums/a...-Injectors.jpg And the work continues... Jim |
Ok, so the details of blowing the side out of the Camaro engine was not necessary!
Hammer down man! Keep going! I just got done cutting the second trans mount back out of the truck! Seems a 4L60 is not a 4L60 is not a 4L60. Just my luck, and don't believe everything you read on the net! Oh well, I can run a cutoff wheel with the best of them! |

Jim,
Awesome project! I have been reading throught the thread over the past few days. I glad to see someone taking a road less travled. I happened across your project while I was looking for info on suspension mods. I want to swap in C5 IRS and front suspension into my 05 GTO. I like your suspension jigs. Those have to be the simplest way to locate all the suspension points and have the ability to move things around. Did you design the raised platform or was it constructed from plans you located somewhere? Thx Kevin |

I looked around at pictures of everyone's chassis fixtures from all the bigger shops - and then just made up my own design based off of the items I liked. I most like being able to fold this one down and store it flat or on a wall when I done, whenever that may be .... ;) Thx and good luck on your project ! Jim |
Jim,
Any new pictures? I found a chassis shop that builds complete frames for older corvettes that eliminates the corvette differential, trans axle and torque tube. They build the new frames with C5/C6 suspension parts and use a Viper diff. Their designs are right up my alley as I already have all the C5 suspension components and Viper diff (had planned to retro-fit a cobra IRS into the GTO but use the Viper diff). My only issue is that the shop won't sell me the front and rear clips and wants to build them for me as a complete frame and sell it that way. My plan called for me to remove the floor pan. Bend up some 1/8" steel sheet into a profile to match the new frame rails and capture the edges of the rocker panels. The slide that into the rocker panels through the bottom. Tack those in place then lower the car onto the new complete frame. I'm still toying with ideas on this. I might be able to order a front and rear clip in the profiles I need from Art Morrison then fill in the center section. But the first order of business is to get under the car and game plan this a little more. |
Yea Jim, any new pics? :D

Hi guys,
Nothing happening on my car recently. Been building some tool stands and other stuff for my shop. Spent a week in Boston with my wife to see some friends and attend the 356 Porsche East Coast Holiday. About 255 cars in attendance from 1953-1967. You had cars from all sides of the hobby. Perfectly restored significant cars like the 1954 Gmund all aluminum coupe in the lobby – to rat coupes in the parking lot. It rained the final day when the concours was scheduled – so it was moved into a parking garage. Not the best location – but it was outta the rain and still happened. I normally hang at the host hotel in the evenings anyway to catch some of the best discussions and get to see the cars opened up where you can ask questions and chat with people. One guy rolled a 100 thousand dollar coupe on the autocross… oops. Really good group of folks and it was a fun time ! http://i940.photobucket.com/albums/a...st-Holiday.gif http://i940.photobucket.com/albums/a...sis/00-ECH.gif http://i940.photobucket.com/albums/a...sis/02-ECH.gif http://i940.photobucket.com/albums/a...sis/20-ECH.gif http://i940.photobucket.com/albums/a...sis/01-ECH.gif Narrowing down the color combination I plan to use on my build. Stock black exterior, with black and dark green interior, underhood will be standard PT satins of black, gunmetal, dark green accents, etc. You can sorta see the concept in this beautiful sunroof coupe. http://i940.photobucket.com/albums/a...sis/30-ECH.gif http://i940.photobucket.com/albums/a...sis/32-ECH.gif http://i940.photobucket.com/albums/a...sis/33-ECH.gif http://i940.photobucket.com/albums/a...sis/34-ECH.gif http://i940.photobucket.com/albums/a...sis/35-ECH.gif And I want one of these. Ecoboost or Subi engine and trans would be a blast ! http://i940.photobucket.com/albums/a...sis/40-ECH.gif Back on my car soon ! Jim |
Looks like you had a great time! Nice group of cars there! I'm amazed.

Jim,
Thanks for the great pics! How many cars there had Corvette drive-trains under them? Any cars there widened 9"? Just sayin'....... --Eric |

Cool pics. One of my favorite cars. If I ever get rich I'll have one in my stable. Awesome color and interior combo on the baby blue one.
Thanks Jim! Mark |

While most people take shots of the car, quarter side shots, interiors, wheel stance, etc. I take a bunch of stupid stuff like bumper gaps, -or- with a hood handle and without a hood handle, -or- chrome and white door knobs vs chrome and black door knobs... A couple hundred of those would make you sick. I have gigs of pics on door gaps .... :) Jim |

There were a couple outlaws there, all but one were all porsche outlaw mods. (One had a complete 911 engine, trans and suspension in it, etc.) There was only one car that was a non-porsche outlaw mod - and it had a Subaru engine with ac in the car. Jim |
