1956 F100 Pro Touring Shop Truck

Hello,

This is my first post here. Not sure if my truck fits this thread. It's not a tow vehicle or parts hauler for a shop. But it is sort of a ProTouring Shop Truck for lack of a better description. If anyone has a better name for it I am all ears.

http://gustave.smugmug.com/Trucks/56...4_4wtTL-XL.jpg

Although it is far from finished, here is the description so far:

Reinforced frame with truck arms and custom front IFS w/ cross-over bar
Fronts shocks = 20”QA1 6773
Rear shocks = Bilstein
Springs = 300lbs/in front, 200lbs/in rear
Brakes = Wilwood, 14” rotors up front w/ 6 piston SLR6 calipers, Wilwood under-hung pedal cluster with two Tilton master cylinders and balance bar
Engine = Ford Racing S347JR (350hp, 400ftlbs)
Transmission = reworked C4
Rear End = Ford 12” with Speedway Engineering lightweight housing and Truetrac limited slip
Front axles moved forward 4 inches with reworked fender openings
Rear fenders widened by 1.5 inches
Wheels = Wheelsmith Aluminum Smoothies. 17”x8” front (20.5lbs), and 17”x9.5” rear (21.5lbs)
Tires = Diamond Back Whitewalls = 255/60-17 front and 275/60-17 rear
Steering = Flaming River quick ratio power rack with KRC PS pump and remote reservoir

During the initial build I put a premium on keeping the truck as light as possible, with a wide torque curve. Making it easy to drive on the street and good for auto-x. Moving the front axles forward, and moving the engine back by massaging the firewall helped with weight distribution. The #1 cylinder is behind the front axle centerline.

I have additional things planned like aluminum bumpers and lightweight aluminum bucket seats. The interior will be aircraft inspired (WWII era).

http://gustave.smugmug.com/Trucks/56...48_LgoXM-L.jpg

http://gustave.smugmug.com/Trucks/56...5_DH9qq-XL.jpg

I waffled for a long time about going with traditional looking wheels vs. more modern wheels with lower profile tires. For now I decided to keep the whitewall look while adding as much performance as possible.

More to come as things progress.

the "Fly100"

I don't know what others may have or might call it, but I'm thinking it's One Fly Ass F100...no pun intended on the WWII aircraft theme.

I would love to do a vintage military-inspired truck myself.

I dont remember if I have posted mine in here but here are some picts of it to share. My goal was a semi stock looking truck with serious power under the hood...

From the looks of it, I think it is on air..... probably using a stock crossmember up front.

the back-half of the pre-runner is back from laser. 100% cnc laser notched tube and cnc cut/bent plate-work for the bump stops and spare mounts. 92 gal fuel cell mounts from underneath and above holds 2 39" spare tires.

My 48 Ford F1 project truck. Started out as yard art for my wife's photography business, fell in love with it and just couldn't let it sit. Using an 03 Crown Vic drivetrain/suspension.

Welcome to the site. That sounds like a great build. Be sure to post up pictures as you build the truck. We love pictures.
