The thermostat thickness is 1.3" and I have 1.57" . That's with the factory oil pan, I'm using an AutoKraft pan with their aluminum filter adapter. I don't know if it moves the mounting point out any or if it's in the same location as the factory one. Did anyone with an AutoKraft pan notice if the mounting face distance changed in or out?

The external bypass is what I have on my car, mounted in the lines just in front of the motor mount area. If you are dropping or changing the pan, get the crank scrapper from Improved, it will be free HP, and so easy to install.

If anyone wants parts from Improved PM me, they sponsor me and I can give you a discount code.

Try a different cover plate: GM Part Number 12551587. It places the port at an angle and not straight out the one you are using. If you can't find a picture on-line I will try and take some pictures tonight.

Louie this is what I'm trying to put there , a thermostat to go to the oil cooler.

I used one on my car Wayne, It was a little snug but not touching by any means. It seems that they offered one that was a low profile. If you don't have that you may want to look into it. Hope my free advice helps... lol

Thanks it all helps Travis Are you using the AutoKraft oil pan? I need to find out what they use for a drain plug too.

make sure you use the gasket with two seperate holes in it, not the ones that are pictured above that are open between the ports.

I Changed to an old set of valve covers so the LS lift adapter could fit and finally got the engine out of the crate and on the stand. I'm hoping to prep it and paint some clear on it to help make it easier to keep clean. Then I'll put the Auto Kraft oil pan, motor adapter plates and motor mounts on it and see how its looking. I'll probably try the headers on it to see if there is enough room to run an Improved Racing oil thermostat off the oil fil

Hey Wayne, nice engine.

Are you going to clear coat the engine? If so, what are you going to use and how will you prep?

I have a new LS and was considering clearing it but haven't been able to find out much about it.

Thanks, Jeff
