We got the top part of the latch in place and are lining the bottom up to find the final location. We'll set and mount it.
Here's the starting location.

I tried to clearance the top holes on the radiator side to move the plate to the drivers side but it threw off the front piece that bolts to the header panel. Thank god for finish washers.

Wayne, weld a flat piece of 1/2 inch wide 1/8 inch strap to the bottom for your hood support. Cut the horizontal tab off the center support and drill a hole throught the top of the support then through the tab welded to the bottom of your lower hood bracket you built. Looking good. Progress,, that 's all we need is a little progress..

Thank you guys, feels great finally getting at it. Now the problem is finding all the parts I've been moving al around for all these years.

Good to see things moving forward, Wayne. Good idea on the latch placement. Best wishes!

We've been working on the car a few hours a day we installed the RS doors to figure if it would interfere with the intercooler reservoir. I'm going to put it right behind the passenger headlight in the same place Travis (Snappytravis) put his. I had been thinking about putting it there and seeing how nice his is, it was definitely a go.
We made a platform to mount the tank out of aluminum and bolted it in.It will have a piece in the back for a tab to slide into and be bolted 2 or 3 places in the front and be covered with some type of rubber to prevent chafing the tank.

Here's a quick shot of the platform test fit.

We removed the factory balancer and are replacing it with an ATI super dampener. If you guys want a Harmonic dampener check out ATI blems on E Bay, instead of the $465 I got one for $269 for my LSA,it doesn't come with the super charger pulley blem or not. If I had to find the blem on it to save my life the wife could sell the car because I would never find it........ The bolt came right out with my impact wrench.
The problem was getting t he balancer off. We tried with a 3 jaw puller we had, no dice, then I went for an AutoZone loaner, wrong one back again, Then we got another one from AutoZone and it finally got it to move. About 3/16 of an inch, we had to go back to the first puller to finish taking it off, but the loaner was the only thing to get it to break loose.

And finally in place ready to be put on.

We also tried the Front accessory drive on for fit. I don't have the A/C compressor yet so that test will have to wait. The throttle body is a ported one from V Max in Florida.

And something else that will help the build continue.
HEAT!

No more frost bite on the bootie!

Of course its been in the 70's, the heater must have scared the cold away!

Wayne ... nice progress, did GM use thread locker on the OEM?

Nice to see the heater, someday I'll get one! Hey guess what the LOW is gonna be here tonight? between 17 and 20 degrees Fahrenheit, yep that's dang cold!!!!

Keep warm ...

waynieZ 11-06-2015 08:34 PM

Thanks Chief! They did on the bolt the impact took care of that. First time I used it. When it goes back on ARP says to use red thread locker. That's strong stuff. The balancer itself was a bear to get off.
When we tried to fire the heat up I had just finished wiring the breaker in the box and tested the GFCI on it. We turned it on and nothing OH CRAP! the heater was in my cellar for 3 years I figured something went wrong, but luckily it was just flip the breaker.
