Here is a link to a car I am seriously looking at I will probly do brakes, interior and a little more to the motor but overall it looks ok.

I would be hard-pressed to pay $35K for it when there's rust on both fenderwells and another area. That means at some point a complete strip and it's usually worse when stripped than it appeared with paint.

which I could probly only get 32k for. He told me he has friend that can fix the spots for 2k. I really dont know alot about old school cars so thats why Im asking all these questions to the pro's, you guys

I agree with Jody. I think he is asking and getting too much from you. If you are set on not looking at other cars, try to negotiate with him even more after you look at it. I am sure there will be plenty of "eye sore" areas after you look at the car (they all do).

I'm not trying to be a smart-ass, so if I do come off as one, sorry.

Since you do not know a ton about older cars, I would try and hook up with someone who does, if I were you. They can really help out and point out "what to look for", in an unbiased manner.

Seeing as there is already rust under the front lower trim, and along the rear wheelwells, there is more-than-likely rust in other places on the car. I would be VERY leary of this car. $32k should NOT have rust problems, but that is just my opinion.

If you can't find anyone on this Forum to help you out, and possibly hook up with and give the car a good "once over" I would check out Camaros.net and see if anyone there could help..

I dont think you are a smart ass at all. I have a friend of mine that is going to look at the car with me tomm. The guy is going to put it on a lift so well see what my friend says. He knows mores than me but I doubt he is an expert at this stuff. Anything you say will help I just dont want to end up with a mess, spending more koney than I have to. A agree with the previous posts, but when youy get under it, go over it very thoroughly. For $30 it should be rust free.

Also poke @ the bottom with a screw driver. I mean really poke. If you poke through, you either had rust, or something covering up the rust.

If the guy doesn't like you poking around, more than likely he is hiding something. But use your head, don't poke around to where it would damage the good stuff.

If you trade your getting screwed, your truck is worth alot than that Camaro. That Camaro is a 20 to 25k car at best doesn't look like is do much more than add a 502 which doesn't make that car worth alot more. I would offer 20k for it and see where he goes....... don't trade you will regret it later.....

You would do better by buying a car like this:

And then spending $13k on performance upgrades (crate motor, brakes, suspension, etc)

At least you woud be starting out with a car void of rust which costs a bunch to fix and only gets worse.l

$35k should be a solid and rust free car.
