J-ROD '68 Camaro

We're currently working on the this '68 Camaro for a customer. Its a pretty "simple" build with a mild amount of fabrication... The body will be very stock, all factory trim and emblems. The only exterior mod will be a little bumper tuck front and rear...

Its getting a DSE front clip, Art Morrison IRS, 427 BBC with an early corvette tripower, and a 5 spd.

Should be a fun build!

Heres where we started:

The body was very clean! The worst part of the car was the colony of mice that lived in it throughout the years... We found rust in very unusual places.

The glamorous part of building cars... Scraping undercoat for a day... Thank God for the rotisserie!

We got the main areas of the car blasted, and mounted it to the frame table. I was pretty surprised to see that the body was twisted about 1/2"! An easy fix now, but could have been a nightmare!

Looks like a great build. This will be fun to watch go through the process.

Looking forward to seeing the details on the IRS install and how "simple" this build stays.....I can see the snowball forming already!

Nice Buick.

Heres the morrison Rail that welds into the car.http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...4DCBC7C2A5.jpg

We started getting the rear rail mocked up where they want it to go... It really requires minimal cutting to get it installed. But... we are after a lower ride height... We decided to raise the rear floor and rear rail up 2". That would give a a 5 3/4" ride height.http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...D14F10AE4E.jpg

The rail is in, at its final height.http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...C56FEE1CF5.jpg

Will the 2" mod allow the IRS full travel or are you going to have to make further modifications?

Just so I understand, 5 3/4 measured from what point?

Great work btw

It will be close, we may need to modify the outer wheel well. The factory outer well almost immediately starts curving in... making it hard to tuck any tire.

Thats from the rear pinch weld (in front of wheel) to the ground.
