"pro-touring" B17 Sidecar
So I don't get too ahead of myself, I'll say I'm starting this thread "by demand" instead of by "popular demand" because well, it may be low demand. Also, I figure I can call it pro-touring since it belongs to a race bike rider and that will hopefully allow the thread to stay, ha.
so with out further to do... "By Demand" Here is the official build thread for the B17 sidecar that I built for Carey Hart, ex-freestyle motocross rider and husband to pop star "Pink". Carey and I have become friends over the last year and a half. It all started when I posted to my Instagram followers in October of 2016 that I was looking to rent a trailer to haul the Ruptured Duck to SEMA. Carey responded within ten minutes of me posting that and that weekend I met him at his house and the deal was done. I used his trailer for SEMA and then a few months later in February of last year (2017) He texted me saying that he had a crazy project idea in mind that he needed to be done for the September HotBike Magazine Tour and that he was part of the Celebrity Bike Build-off. I met him at his shop that weekend and he commissioned me to build what he simply described as a B17 looking sidecar. My first question was "how B17 do you want it?" to which he responded that it was up to me "whatever you want to do". So I pitched the Plexiglass nose and tail fin and he said sounds great and that his only parameter was that it had to fit his 6-year-old daughter completely inside of it. I made a few return trips back to his place to lock down the design and then I was ready to build the buck. here is the process. https://photos.smugmug.com/B17-sidec...876b159-XL.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/B17-sidec...e2ffa87-XL.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/B17-sidec..._173436-XL.jpg |

Very cool project. I love stuff that isn't following the same old theme. I'm excited to see how this plays out. :)

Man, this is so cool. It may not be a protruding car. But, I assume all of us can appreciate the level of skill that this takes. Some of us here have fab skills, but the majority of us do not. Especially, on this level. So, thanks for starting this thread. Post lots of process picks like you do with Ruptured Duck.

Yes! This was one of the best things to see at SEMA last year. I loved seeing the smiles on peoples faces when they walked up to it.
Glad you decided to share brother!!:thumbsup: |
